The New Pier — Restaurant in White Oak

I really enjoyed eating here. It was my first time and I went around 2pm when it was after the lunch rush and before school and work were done. Not busy at all. You seat yourself and a waiter will bring you a menu. I ordered an appetizer of fried okra which I had never seen as an appetizer before. It was more than one person could eat but very good. Not sure what the dipping sauce was but it went well with the fried okra. I had never tried it that way. I also ordered the #4 which was 4 fish and 12 shrimp and it comes with french fries and hush puppies. Very good and again way more than what I could eat. That was a meal for two. But I have left-overs for dinner. The price could be considered a little high but with what you get I think it is just right. Everyone is friendly there. I could hear music playing in the kitchen which should also play in the dining area. It was a bit too quiet. The service was good for me but others I could hear say it was slow, there was only one waiter there at the time so they should have had patience but no one was rude and the waiter is young and good looking and attended to everyone with a smile. Every time I have driven past this place the parking lot was full, there isn't a lot of parking but that shouldn't be a reason to not go. So go eat here, you...

Had lunch here with people from our corporate office, as well as people from out of state. I had to order 5 other combos to go....only 3 made it back to work, so I had to call and let New Pier employees know that I would have to drive back up there and pick up the other two orders. I still had to pay full price for the combos, they refused to discount anything or even throw in a free dessert. This is the second time in a row this has happened when our company employees have eaten there. I had to spend 30 extra minutes of my work time going back up there, because of their mistake, and I will certainly let others know about it, so it doesn't happen to them as well. Many of our employees eat there frequently. So, if they couldn't even put a free dessert in for their mistake, I will post this review, because I feel they are wrong for refusing to offer anything to compensate good customers that come in routinely. I was very disappointed in this place today! I ordered the 2 fish and 6 shrimp dinner, and asked for it to be grilled , they charged an extra dollar for the grilled food, so I was expecting 2 pieces of fish and 6 pieces of shrimp. What I got was one piece of fish, that had been cut in half and 6 shrimp. When I asked about it, I was told the fish shrinks when it is grilled and that is just how it is!! My son had the same meal, but he got two whole pieces of fried fish and 6 shrimp! So, my advice is do NOT ask for your fish to be grilled or you will be cheated out of one piece of fish!! It is NOT that I needed more food, it was the principle that I got cheated just because I asked for something different than the usual fried meal!!!!!! I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN WHAT I PAID FOR!!! The food tasted good, I just didn't like being cheated, and the waitress was nice, but the other girl, who I assume was a manager or something...
