I’ll start off by saying that you will not be disappointed here. We are not from the local area and asked a local where to get the best food. The River Market was his top recommendation and this place did not disappoint. The staff and locals inside were all incredibly friendly and personable; the treated us first timers like we were regulars and we had wonderful and warm conversation with the staff and patrons while waiting for our food to be boxed. They were interested in where we were from and what brought us here. Everything is homemade and fresh. We arrived around 3:00 pm and asked about the dinner menu and was told “Dinner is served at 5:00 pm, so we’ll decide what we’re making for dinner around 4:00 pm”. Now that’s fresh!! We had the Chicken Cordon Blue, baby back ribs, thin sliced roast beef and mudslide brownies. Everything was delicious and at a quality you would expect of sit down restaurants. They have a wide selection of homemade comfort foods for takeout such as collards, Brunswick stew, bean soups, other soups and cooked vegetables, salads and deserts. Most customers were coming in to purchase entire ready to go a la cart meals. We took our food out to our truck and ate it right there in the...
Read moreIf you don't know how this place runs, you order at register. The cashier was very nice. However..... I was standing waiting for my food and I was asked what I ordered, with attitude. The 2 ladies were talking more than anything. One was using her phone with gloves on and then touched food prep. I wasn't being rude or asking questions, just standing and watching, talking to my husband. The sandwich came out sloppy. I could not hold it as I should have been able to. The Philly was bland at best. No care was taken in prep or presentation. My husband was upset with his food too. We will not go back if it's a problem to stand and wait for food. If I don't give you attitude, don't give it to me. The cashier and an older man in the back were very nice. We went in on a Friday. I get being busy but if you can laugh and joke with a customer you know, then why give us attitude for simply standing. I mean come on she threw her hands in the air as if we were bothering her. It's your job to cook, so cook. Don't worry about the quiet customers waiting for their food. We french fried instead of pizza and we...
Read moreWe just moved to a new State so needless to say, finding a good food market was our first priority. I found this market by driving to another store, and saw the signs in the window as a passenger. On the way back home, I asked to stop in to see what they had for sale.
Unknown for me at the time, I asked where they sold their meats. I was led to the back of the store where I saw spareribs, meatloaf potato 🥔 salad and loads of homemade breads. I decided I would try the ribs, meatloaf and potato salad. I also grabbed homemade bread and butter from canada. What enticed me is I asked for a sample of the potato salad. It was remarkable. I tasted flavors I have never tasted in any other dish.
I consider myself a gourmet hungarian cook. I have been blessed with excellent taste buds. So needless to say, I had no regrets bringing home the other items untasted.
I must say, all items were delicious. I will be shopping quite frequently. They have many more homemade foods such as soups, pasta, spaghetti and more.
Try it, you will not be...
