I'm updating my Sandpiper review since we’ve gotten past the Covid situation .. I had my usual broiled Salmon on rice which I continue to enjoy .. the place was hopping and the service a bit slower than usual . Still a reliable good meal ! Last night a friend and I decided we'd try to get in on a weekday, as weekends it looks super packed. I found it friendly and welcoming, being greeted and seated quickly. We had to have the Onion Rings as we have them wherever they're offered. I must say these were huge and tasty but gone is the old chrome rack they used to come on. I ordered my usual Salmon and my friend the Scampi. They sent bread right away though I thought it could be more interesting and warmer. Our appetizer was the Spring Rolls which were crunchy n fresh and enough to share. When our dishes arrived they were ample portions and served fairly quickly. I must say while the salmon was fresh tasting the dill cucumber side dressing did add a more educated flavor to the plate. My friends Scampi seemed to take the prize for copious amounts of food and presentation if you're real hungry. In fact, while the prices were common for the area, we both ended up taking home half of our meals since we were that full.. making it even more of a well priced meal. I noticed several people I knew from local businesses, Indian Creek Country Club, and a few Irvingtonians I recognized. The vibe was fun and friendly, and our waitress couldn't have been kinder. All things considered it was a fun filling night out! Give it a try!

The Sandpiper Restaurant in White Stone, VA, is a culinary gem that shines brightly amidst the serene beauty of the Virginia northern neck. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we knew we were in for a dining experience unlike any other. Let's talk about the food - where do I even begin? The seafood platter was a symphony of flavors from the ocean, each bite bursting with freshness and expertly prepared to perfection. The Ribeye Steak was a carnivore's dream, cooked to a flawless medium-rare and boasting unparalleled tenderness and flavor. And let's not forget about the bacon-wrapped jumbo shrimp appetizer, a divine marriage of smoky, savory goodness that left us craving more. But it wasn't just the main courses that dazzled our taste buds - even the dessert, the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, was a decadent delight that perfectly capped off our meal. Beyond the extraordinary cuisine, the ambiance of The Sandpiper Restaurant is simply enchanting. The charming atmosphere, coupled with impeccable service, made us feel like royalty from start to finish. In conclusion, if you're looking for the epitome of fine dining without the uprightness:-) in Virginia, look no further than The Sandpiper Restaurant. Whether you're a seafood aficionado, a steak connoisseur, or simply someone who appreciates exquisite cuisine, this establishment is an absolute must-visit. Five stars doesn't do it justice - it's a culinary experience that deserves every accolade imaginable.

Unfortunately, I was hoping this would be better than what it was, but sadly, the food just wasn't there. I understand that in these small towns with only one or two restaurants, there's not much motivation to cook good food, but it is always sad to see, especially in coastal towns where seafood should be honored. The oyster Rockefeller came out luke warm at best. Was kind of a big gloop, seemed like the spinach and bacon had been cooked to death prior, then placed on the oyster with cheese and melted. The oyster itself was still cold, so I'm not sure how they were able to melt the cheese yet still have a cold oyster. I would have normally sent it back, but I was hoping the remaining meal was gonna be better. Alas, it was not. Basically, the best thing was the fried and steamed shrimp. We had the shrimp and crab cake combo and the steamed shrimp. I never expect much with crab cakes, so receiving a small one with mostly filler was no surprise. The au gratin potatoes had a weird flavor to it in the sauce and had no cheese and the twice baked potato didn't even look twice baked and seemed like it had a slice of velveta cheese on top. The money paid for the meal did not match the quality, sadly. If you are in for shrimp this could be a good bet but I would hesitate for anything else.

We are staying in a vacation rental nearby and were very excited to try this place. The reviews were mostly good so we figured it was a no-brainer. The staff immediately seemed too inconvenienced to seat us... when they did finally seat us it took a long time before anyone came to grab our drink order. By that time we had all had a chance to look over the entire menu and make our dinner selections. We ordered our dinner, drinks, and an appetizer. There were multiple black hairs found on our appetizer plates. We NEVER received our appetizer... when I asked the lady about it when she brought our entrees she said ‘I never gave the order to the kitchen’... no apology, no offer to get it out to us immediately, no anything. Then after we sat for quite a while with empty water glasses and they finally came by to fill them the girl filled my DRINK cup up the rest of the way with WATER. The food was not good. We were supposed to get a side salad AND a side with our dinners... we received our side salads but the waitress argued with me about the sides. We never received our complimentary bread that every other table seemed to get!? It’s clearly stated on the menu. Perhaps we just caught them on a terrible night but I can assure you we will never go back there and advise other people not to either. I was very disappointed in the service above all else. Do not waste your...
