We stopped here excited to find a bbq on our way back to Texas on Veterans Day. The excitement was short lived as waitress informed us after 40 minutes a computer glitch had not gave our order to cooking staff. On a 14 hour drive there added an hour. When the food arrived, being an avid bbq'er I was disappointed that my pork sandwich and sliced brisket sandwich had sauce and stuff on it when I had asked for just meat so I could taste... brisket sandwich had cheese and raw purple onions and some red bbq sauce... yes cheese on brisket sandwich and it looks like I got the flat part of brisket that looks like little sausages and not a lot at that... no smoky flavor in either or taste of rub... quite bland and disappointing. I won't go into our other three orders other than none were finished and all thrown out with the stale sweet tea at next stop. They have a lot of dialing in to do and not sure if they cook hot and fast... but what i do know as we parked out front for that hour wait... no smell of hickory wood which I cook with and can smell for the whole day on my cooks. Hope they get it right for others but even complimentary cheesecake seemed store bought and frozen... our bill was $80 which is nothing for great bbq... good luck and hope others get great bbq later. ...
Read moreThis is legit barbeque . Very friendly service from the moment I entered until the moment I left. The setting was what I look for in a barbeque establishment. No fancy embellishments for the interior or exterior. Comfortable yet rustic accommodations that make you feel as though the place has been around for a long time and is well visited. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I recommend the outdoor seating if the weather allows. Decent parking was available to me but I do believe I visited during a less than busy time for larger crowds.
Great selection of entree’s that any connoisseur would expect from an authentic establishment. I sampled as much as I could and enjoyed it all. The standout for me was the pulled pork and I have to say their Cajun seasoned fries were some of the best deep fried potatoes I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. Nice selection of house made sauce is centered on each table.
They offer a varied selection of beers from PBR to locally sourced microbrews and the server knew the details about each of them and was enthusiastic about making sure I would choose one that I would like.
I recommend Road Hog’s highly if you’re looking for “real deal” barbeque near White Sulphur...
Read moreJust left there and my tummy is comfortably full even after eating a Pulled Pork Platter. They do something most wonderfully right that you can eat so much and not be miserable. I ordered the cowboy beans and potato salad as my sides, perfectly seasoned and a pleasant texture on both. The sauces went from a honey base to a vinegar base, pleasing both myself and my husband's wishes for full flavor. The staff were all so genuine with being helpful and in friendly conversation. When you order the platter it will come on a small baking sheet with 3 trays, it was surprising my eyes said, "that looks small", but your tummy will make you heed midway to take a few breaths. Please give them your patronage, they are expanding with more outdoor events and to include a side business next door that surely will only enhance this great business!!! I only wished I lived closer, it would be my "go...
