Tootsie's Place — Restaurant in White Sulphur Springs

If I could give this bakery 0 stars I would. The owner could not be more unprofessional. I booked a cake for an event 2 months ago. Price was agreed upon 1 month ago over the phone at the second call we had discussing what detail I wanted on the cake.

12 days prior to the event I email the owner inspiration photos- she says she does not have enough time to do the cake I wanted and to find a different design. She also told me everything was made fresh the day before - so 12 days prior should be more than enough time. After more discussion she says “with other obligations” she has she cannot do what I want- she had overbooked herself and was unable to deliver the cake I wanted even though I booked this 2 months prior. She told me she requires 7-14 days for ideas- I sent mine to her 12 days before- right in her timeframe. This did not make any sense.

She was supposed to deliver our cake (we are about 20-30 mins away). 9 days before the event she tells me she is not delivering anymore. She made a commitment to deliver our cake and backed out less than a week and a half before. This was very disappointing, but unfortunately the disappointment doesn’t end there.

She then sends me the invoice which was an astronomical amount more than the agreed upon price a month prior. I asked what was the cause of the price increase- she said the gold detailing and filling- when telling her what I wanted she at no point said that will cost extra. I cannot imagine those two small things costing this much extra. I then ask her to send a price break down so I can get an idea of where the extra cost is coming from. This is when she replied saying she doesn’t feel she is the right baker and cancelled my cake, 9 days before my event- keep in mine I booked her 2 months prior to the event.

To say this is unprofessional is a complete understatement. The fact that she was trying to scam me out of money just goes to show what kind of person she is and the type of business she is running. I would not recommend this bakery to anyone. Save yourself the stress and book your...

Never had any issues with this place and I’ve gotten coffee and sweets for two years now! Their coffee is always amazing and they come up with wonderful flavors! They’re also super willing to do whatever you want as long as they have it (and they do!). The sweets are to die for; especially the chocolate muffin! The chocolate muffin is like biting into a chocolate cloud! Super moist and soft, it basically melts in your mouth! Best I’ve ever had!
