Grandma's Kitchen? More like Grandma's dumpster. I know ones expectations shouldn't be that of a 5 star restaurant considering the location but WoW just WoW!
We stopped here with our 2 kids and a friend to have a bite to eat to our way home from our camp. We passed this place numerous times 10 years and counting and NEVER wanted to stop just due to "view" of visitors.
However, we did and our first impressions were correct. We had to wait 15 mins because they were "busy" with 12 people seated ( on there behalf it is a small trailer and a patio). We had a toddler and a 6 year old with us and the first thing we notice was this GIANT spider just hanging in the entry way. No worries we told the hostess and she just shrugged it off. No worries its the North Country there are spiders everywhere.
So eventually we were seated and this is where it went worse to INSANE. First we could smell the dumpster from inside and the smell of rotting garbage on a warm day is not enjoying at all. Then eventually our waitress got to us. We gave our orders which sounded delicious. However, the women got the entire order WRONG.
After waiting another 20 to fix our order we eat and the truth is the food was all ICE cold besides the oatmeal we asked to be cooled for our son. Hash was most likely NEVER cooked the eggs were runny the pancakes weren't fully cooked the ham is a joke for 4$ extra. Then to TOP it all off! we eat what we could and without throwing up which wasn't much and were ready to go and ended up waiting ANOTHER 30 mins just to get our dang check. I asked NOT one but three waitress for our check and they all said "were" swamped. It's rather sad what they consider "swamped" these waitress couldn't cut it in a city dinner.
To add more fuel my wife and kids went to the car because our toddler and young daughter were tired of sitting on "picnic tables" for over an hour. I finally paid and left however left NO tip. Why do I mention this its because Im the LAST person to NOT tip but this service was non-existent to the point where we had no waitress.
Avoid the place if your actually just looking for a bite to eat I wish I could recommend something else but sadly this is all the people in...
Read moreLet's start off with the positive part of my experience here because it was so memorable; We arrived for breakfast just as it was about to rain and got inside before the rain started. Now for the rest because that was really the only good thing about it. The lady that seated us was also the bus girl responsible for clearing and cleaning tables and seemed to be working the hardest out of everyone there. After standing for 20 minutes she pointed at us then pointed at a table. I'm glad I'm fluent in caveman speak. The waitress dropped our menus on the table walking by us without so much as a Hi I'm your waitress for another 5 minutes. When we ordered, it was like we were inconveniencing her because she was so busy. The restaurant was extremely loud, which I understand in a busy restaurant. I ordered the banana berry crepes and a grilled blueberry muffin. My wife ordered the pancake, eggs, bacon, and sausage combo. My crepe had a dollop of cream cheese in it and then the waitress came out with a ramekin of berry filling to top it with, which you could tell was canned pie filling. The crepe with cream cheese? Really? That's not a crepe. Crepes dont have cream cheese. It shouldn't have even been considered a crepe. And I have had better muffins out of the box at the supermarket. My wife's pancakes were rubbery as was the bacon and the extra $2 maple syrup tasted like watered down Aunt Jamimas. I know because I'm a big fan of homemade maple syrup. It took me 3 times asking the waitress to get my wife a straw. In short, if you dont specialize in something as delicious as a properly made crepe, dont offer it. Nothing tasted like Grandmas cooking and the staff have no business being in customer service if they aren't going to make you feel welcome, wanted,...
Read moreGreat Place??? Not anymore. The French toast was loaded with something more than cinnamon. There was an extreme bitter aftertaste that not even pure maple syrup could cover up. Two bites and I was done. The spice in it turned my tongue numb. And the bread soaked in this stuff was very dark. Definitely some sort of nutmeg or allspice or even clove. May have been a mistake/mix up. I kindly sent it back and no big deal. I had my bacon. My mom quietly ate her lunch. I didn't want anything else. Then the chef came out and started to berate me with aggressive non-stop questions. I asked him if I could speak, and he continued on. At that point, I asked him to leave me alone and to go away. He continued. I asked him to stop harassing me. He stated he wasn't harassing me. I told him I was feeling harassed and told him to leave me alone. He then went over to the other waitresses and verbally ran me down. Other customers were hearing this. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. My elderly mother was shaken by it and never wants to go back there again. Very disappointing as I have had french toast there in times past but this was not good. However, after this interaction with the chef, I will never go back there and will not recommend this place. It was scary. Also, check the prices on the bill they give you because they are higher than what the menu states. The nice waitress corrected it for me. She was very kind and apologetic. I let her know it wasn't her fault. Below is a screenshot of someone else who was there and had the same complaint and witnessed what was done to me...
