We were excited to land and immediately find us some good Ole Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. This restaurant was a mile away and had great reviews. When looking up their menu, I became more excited because they had a stuffed crab pretzel! When we arrived, they were packed. The host said outdoors seating was the only seating currently available. It was 45 degrees. She said they had heat lamps. We said that'll be fine. When we were seated, neither lamp on either side of the table was lit. She said she would ask her manager to light them. After a minimum of 10 minutes, we were greeted by John. He introduced himself, asked for our drink orders, them immediately went to walk away. I stopped him. I asked if he could as his manager to light either lamp on the sides of us. He said they were both broken. (Strike 1). I asked if we could move to the table closer to the firepit. He said that wasn't his section and he didn't want to step on any toes. It's was cold out. We agreed to sit outside, so I figured we'd make it work. I said we would like to order appetizers. He took our order. In the meantime, we weren't getting any warmer, so we moved to the fireplace area anyway, since it was completely empty. It was nice! I ordered a Tito's dirty martini and my wife ordered a espresso martini. John brought my martini to me with no olives. (Strike 2). I asked for some and he returned shortly after with them. Appetizers took about 10-12 minutes. They were hot and delicious. I absolutely loved the crab stuffed pretzel. I wanted a sauce to go with it though. I never got the chance to ask for it. We completely finished our appetizers and drinks before John returned. Once he did, I told him, I thought you forgot about us! He said he was Sat with a 12 top, so....... (Strike 3). I proceeded to start ordering some of our food. I politely asked him if I could get the chips on the side for my short rib nachos. (I do not like soggy chips). He said they couldn't do that. I questioned, "I can't order the nachos with the chips on the side? I just want them to put the toppings on a plate or in a bowl and my chips on the side." He repeated we can't do that. (Strike 4). I asked for the check. $50. 2 drinks. 2 appetizers. Mediocre service. $10 Uber there and $10 back to the hotel. The cost of the ticket was the least of my concerns. It was the point of it all and we didn't get dinner nor additional drinks or dessert that my wife always orders before dinner. 3 hour drive to the airport. Hour and a half flight. 30 minute hotel check in. No dinner.
Disappointed was an understatement. I can only recommend the appetizers, but even those weren't good enough for me to visit this...
Read moreI attended a work outing at MaGerk’s in Fort Washington, and the experience was incredibly disappointing. We were there for dinner and drinks, and after enjoying our meals, we continued to order a few more rounds of drinks while relaxing at the table. Out of nowhere, our waiter, John B., came over and abruptly flagged our table and cut us off. There was no warning or communication and his explanation was that he has his Responsible Alcohol Management Program (RAMP) certification and due to the number of drinks ordered in the time frame he was obligated to stop serving us. He blamed it on the bar tender seeing the number of total drinks, time stamps and flagging us. All while at the table, there were drinks that have not been consumed or finished.
At this point, we asked to speak to the Manager, Nicole, to get a better understanding on why this happened and the abruptness of it. She offered zero clarification and ultimately blamed it on the waiter and said it was up to his discretion. Her customer service skills were incredibly poor. She was dismissive and condescending in her communication and explanation.
As a sober, pregnant person at the table, I was in a clear state of mind and can confidently say that no one was acting inappropriately or behaving in a way that would justify being cut off. The entire group was calm, respectful, and simply enjoying a night out together.
To top it all off, after settling the 20% gratuity which was automatically added to our $900 tab due to having a group of nine people, Nicole, the manager, came back and told us we had to leave the property entirely. We were not loud, aggressive, or causing any issues. It was an unnecessarily hostile way to treat a large, paying group.
Would not recommend this place for any type of group or...
Read moreDear District Manager,
I have never left a bad review in my life, but this cannot go unnoticed. We came to Magerks in Fort Washington as a group of 9 for a company outing to celebrate one of our coworker’s achievements. We arrived at 5:30 PM and enjoyed dinner and drinks over the course of the evening. Everything was great until it wasn’t.
Without warning, around 10 PM, our server told us we were being cut off from ordering any more drinks. The reason? We had ordered 71 drinks over the course of nearly five hours among 9 fully responsible adults. That averages to about 7-8 drinks per person for the entire evening—hardly excessive for a group of professionals pacing themselves while celebrating a milestone. No one was disruptive, no one was visibly intoxicated, and we were completely blindsided by the decision.
The lack of communication and the implication that we were being irresponsible was frustrating and frankly insulting. We would never put ourselves or others in danger, many of us had rides or were planning not to drive.
This experience left a bad taste in our mouths. A celebration turned into an awkward and abrupt ending, and unfortunately, we will not be returning. A little respect and better communication would’ve gone a long way.
Nicole, the manager on site was extremely rude. She made us close out our tab, which we did immediately. After closing our tab, she told us that we needed to call our uber and leave immediately. This is extremely upsetting, as we come to this location to celebrate...
