Last night at Kreimer's, my family and I encountered some notable difficulties. Despite attempting to make a reservation for our party of ten the day before, we were informed that no reservations were being accepted. Our hope was to dine at 6 pm. Two members of our party arrived at 5 pm, hoping to secure a table large enough for our group, but they were informed that this was not possible. When my son and I arrived only a few minutes later, we were likewise told we could not be seated together. They offered us two booths (across the room from each other) and a chair at the one booth in the back room.
Since my son and I were at a booth by ourselves, I informed our server, that we would not wait for the rest of our party and just order. Upon ordering drinks and appetizers, we encountered further issues. My frozen margarita was never delivered, while my son's sweet tea was nasty. The tea was cloudy with a film on top and did not taste sweet. Upon requesting a new tea, we were informed that this was the only option available. The sugar packets we were provided were hard and crystalized, with only three of the six packs being usable. The sugar didn't help the taste.
We wanted to order our meal and I wanted to get my drink (since I had been there over an hour without one) but our server was nowhere to be found. After our server finally returned at 6:17 pm, we just ordered our food to go, as our experience thus far had been quite frustrating. My son requested a cheesecake to eat while we waited for our food to be prepared, but this was not brought to us either. At 6:40 pm, we received our food to go, with a total bill of nearly $119.
Upon arriving home, we discovered that the Parmesan Crust NY Strip was burnt on both the top and bottom and was still raw in the middle. He couldn't eat the crust as it tasted awful. This was particularly disappointing, given the higher cost of the Parmesan Crust. In fact, we could have saved approximately $7-$8 by ordering the Tuesday night special instead. I ended up having to cut the top and bottom of the steak off and recook it myself so he could eat it.
Overall, our experience at Kreimer's was regrettably subpar. The refusal of reservations, issues with seating arrangements, poor service, no drink, one drink unable to consume, and disappointing food quality all contributed to a terrible dining experience. Given the price point of the restaurant, we had hoped for a more positive experience and were disappointed by the outcome. Last night, we all agreed from now on, we will go...
Read moreWe love trying new places especially on trips and we found this restaurant via google and it did not disappoint. The only negatives would be to read the room. A woman has her dress stretched over her legs and tucked in under it, another is wrapping her coat around her legs and a man asks if there is any heat because everyone is cold, maybe turn a little heat on. We was by the thermostat and honestly thought about doing it ourselves. It was cold in there. That ans be aware if walking to or front the restaurant parking lot. We had a customer driving it radically fast nearly hitting my husband by a food or two. That’s entirely too close! That kinda ruined our experience as the dude didn’t care but it had nothing to do with the restaurant just giving a warning. I’ve got a photo of the vehicle and license plate. I should shake them but I’m a better person than that. Anyways onto the positives because those are the highlights of this place.
The pretzel is no longer sticks. It’s a regular twisted pretzel but the huge soft pretzel has become the absolute best we have had anywhere! It is so soft inside. Crispy outside buttery throughout with a delicious beer cheese. I’m very hit and miss on pretzels and beer cheeses and this has moved into top best anywhere we have had. We both agreed on this.
My spouse had a side salad I had the spinach salad both and ugh the warm bacon vinaigrette and it was delicious
We both got the deep fried brat with potato cake and sauerkraut. Portion was huge. We could have easily split one order.
Quite pricy but all German restaurants feels the need to be. Not sure why. But the meal bill as a greater value than German chain restaurant we have been to. It was absolutely delicious!
The hostess wasn’t super welcoming but maybe she was having a rough day and I can sympathize. Our waitress was wonderful sweet and cheerful. She worked her tail off with the customers.
The building is absolutely beautiful and makes you feel like you are not in Ohio. The music being played could improve the vibe if it was more German authentic style music. Bohemian Rhapsody isn’t a bad song but kinda makes the experience not feel so...
Read morefirst visit in 52 years ... I've known of this place, since high school, not really close to any of the houses I've lived in or served in the military for over 20 years..... But well worth the wait!!
The German heritage and design influences are amazing and I believe they must have a connection to some military people cuz they're definitely pro America with military related things here and there. Amazing decor and it looks like since high school they've expanded towards the river and have an amazing layout. I can't wait to go back during the summer... Our server's name was Kylie, unfortunately we came at lunch and they were jam-packed with pre-Christmas parties etc.. but through all of it Kylie was amazing. Pretty prompt, pretty helpful and definitely informed,.. although the kitchen seem to have a few issues because we were missing sides and a few times, we had to send out SOS signals for the location of our food, which Kylie was more than nice enough to do
Now for the food. Saw the menu online before they meet up with my family: and was waiting to try many many things. We split the pickle app and they were discs, not spears so you know I had to order it, they split the bourbon double chop meal with two sides and I had the schnitzel sandwich : let's talk about the cons: there was none might be an item or two. I wouldn't order again but not because it was bad..... I just had better potato cakes, at home and elsewhere Not enough space to talk about all the pros, but the grill on the pork chops was perfect. The salad was nice with a great dressing. Potatoes really can't mess a baked potato up. My parents were pleased. All three of us loved the pickle appetizer and the schnitzel sandwich. The meat part IE the sandwich was very tasty. Neatly battered came with a great sauce on top of which I didn't know since I ordered two that they charge for a small ramekin at $2 per, but it was tasty
To those who don't know it, get there and go now, and to those who have known it, they're probably still eating there. Probably once a week. It was 4.5...
