The Farmer's Daughter, nestled in the historic Normandy Farm Hotel, is a culinary haven that embodies the principles of modern farm-to-table cuisine. Under the expert guidance of Nathaniel Ibarguen, Chef de Cuisine, the restaurant has become a benchmark for culinary excellence. With 13 years of service to the company, Chef Nate has honed his craft, creating menus that pay homage to the Lady of the manor's heritage while showcasing his own innovative style. The Farmer's Daughter is a paradigm of Modern Farm Cooking, where locally sourced and heirloom ingredients are transformed into culinary masterpieces. As part of the esteemed Normandy Farm Hotel, the restaurant is a testament to the hotel's dedication to excellence. The spacious 2,100 sq. ft. bar is a refined retreat, complete with plush club chairs, a crackling fireplace, and an extensive array of artisanal cocktails. With its sophisticated décor, reclaimed wooden farm tables, and warm candlelit ambiance, the restaurant is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a truly unforgettable dining experience. We started off with BACK IN BLACK OLD FASHIONED Don Julio Añejo, Mr. Black Cold Brew, Agave, served on the rocks MOCK-TAILS BLOOD ORANGE HONEYSUCKLE Honey, Blood Orange Syrup, Fresh Lime, club soda 2021 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley CHARCUTERIE & FARMSTEAD CHEESE BOARD chef’s selection of farm fresh cheeses and charcuterie, jam, mixed nuts & sourdough bread Warm pretzels Donned with truffle oil, and sea salt OVERNIGHT BRAISED SHORT RIB creamy polenta, crispy kale, sweet hot peppers, grated horseradish, demi-glacé GERT'S CRAB CAKES (2) 4 oz., jumbo lump crab cakes, cous cous, charred scallions, grilled lemon, red pepper coulis CHOCOLATE DECADENCE chocolate torte, chocolate cremeaux, whipped chocolate ganache

I have been to this restaurant often for dinner with family and friends, in addition to hosting buissnes events. I have always had excellent food and service. However, this visit was the worst. I should have known the evening was not going to go well when the waitress spilled water on my sister. Which I really do think was a mistake. The menu flipped the glass of water over when she went to pick it up from the table. We were served our drinks and appetizer which were good. The service was a bit slow but everything else was fine. The issue arose when our meal still did not come out from 20 to 25 minutes after our drinks and appetizers were finished. The waitress did come out to acknowledge that our meal was coming out, but it never did. What made me mad and put my coat on to leave is that the table next to us received their meals before us, though they were seated after us. They did have a different waiter. I went to the front desk and inform them that we never received our meal. The manager immediately apologized and said she would find out what happened. As she went to the kitchen to check our meals, the waiter came out with our meal. We were asked if we wanted to sit down and eat. I said no, we waited way too long and need to be on our next journey. She offered to pack our food and comp, which we did. However once we return home which was five minutes from the restaurant , the food did not look good as it usually does. Please see the photos. I know we didn't pay for the meal, but I'm not happy with the service or food whatsoever. The reason for the kitchen being backed up is unacceptable to me. I would not like to think there was another underlining reason behind the bad service.......

I came here with a “mommas night out” group and the food was exceptional. We were welcomed by hostesses at the front desk who were very friendly. The decor was a gorgeous vintage farmhouse feel with a tad of elegance. Our waiter, Andrew was great and had us laughing all night with his wit and was very knowledgeable of the dishes, flavors etc. Now to the food! They start you off with a plate of various made in house breads and I had what tasted like a marriage between a croissant and French baguette! The inside was fluffy and outside had the crackle all good breads do! I started with a melon marg (watermelon margarita) which was refreshing and definitely made well as the flavors all blended cohesively where you actually forgot there was actually tequila mixed in. My appetizer was the sesame crusted tuna and it was tasty and great grade of tuna in a red pepper chutney which gave it a little kick. My entree I had finally chosen (everything sounded incredible it was really hard to make a decision) I went with the sunflower-crusted lamb chop and gosh I’m so glad I did! It was cooked to med-rare perfection and the sunflower coating had intense flavor and added crunch. I did not get dessert because I was stuffed to the brim but another friend had gotten the seasonal bread pudding and it just looked and smelled delicious! There was a misunderstanding about the reservation so definitely be clear if you are not wanting to book a room as a sales rep had misunderstood and booked us a room (which also comes with a fee understandingly) but that was taken care of by the manager on duty and all was well! Definitely will come here again.

I was super excited to try this place. What a let down..made a reservation for 830..noted celebrating a birthday ask of they 5 do a candle or cake or anything for the occasion inured my phone number to cakm if anything..arrived at 825. 6 told our table would be ready in 4 ton10 minutes. We went to have 2 drinks at the bar. They said they would get us when the tabke was ready we sat at the bar for 30 minutes until we asked the bartender to check for on the table.we finally got seated after an apology that they thought we wanted bar seating..really... service was good. Beverage service was on point. No bread & butter service. Offered. The Brussels salad was doo but said poind cake croutons but it had 3 different types of croutons a few pound cake croutons over powered with fake vanilla extract..fried croutons and stale white bread croutons..we are diabetics no big deal we picked it out but advertise menu truth. The tuna appetizer was good, but the fish itself was old and off flavor and grey. The entrees were not cooked properly..very salted scallops and no seasoning at all on the steak..could take the salt off the scallops and put it on the steak..sides on the steak we sautéed in raw garlic not properly cooked at all. We asked for togo containers at this point to take it home to our dog. The server took all of our utensils and brought a foil pan container for us to our food in togo. Like what we are supposed to use, our hands to scoop the food in the to go container. We ordered 2 desserts to go at this point; it was already 1045 with an hour drive back home. Not a mention for happy birthday or anything done to make the occasion special or anything. We tips our 22% and left. We are both in the hospitality industry, and we know how things can be. But in this case, this facility misses the mark on so many levels, the very basic stuff. They can do better, especially when your tour spending $250.00 for 2 people. I guess covid made everyone forget what hospitality is. All in all facility is nice drinks are good staff is friendly. But training and improvements needs to be made...

Edit 2: increasing my review to 5 stars. We have ordered takeout from this location numerous times since my last edit. The food quality has been excellent along with the customer service. They maintain a high level of quality and consistency, despite the crowds on location. The Farmer’s Daughter has become our go-to for Saturday night date nights and is one of the best restaurants in Montgomery County.

Edit: increasing my review to 4 stars. We have returned multiple times since and have had good experiences. The wait staff have been excellent, and the food has been great. Not quite 5 stars yet as we have had multiple takeout orders that have either been missing items or are incorrect (e.g. we ordered a Bud’s Gem Salad with grilled chicken, and they gave us a scoop of chicken salad for some reason). They have always been extremely courteous when we would call to address concerns.

Atmosphere was excellent and staff were kind and courteous. Started with an appetizer of Warm Pretzels which were excellent and came out quickly. Upon receipt of our appetizer we placed the order for our entrees which were the Bud’s Gem salad and the Overnight Braised Short Rib. The wait for food was about 45 minutes, which we thought was reasonable considering how busy the restaurant seemed. However, upon receipt of our entrees I was met with disappointment as my Overnight Braised Short Rib was cold. This was mildly frustrating considering the 45 minute wait. Luckily the Bud’s Gem salad was delicious. Now I know that cold dishes are traditionally not the fault of the kitchen. That was reinforced by how good the entree was, even cold. Overall it was not a bad experience, minus the cold entree, we will most likely be returning...
