Worse experience I have ever had at a restaurant! Got there at 6:50 and checked in for a party of 5 and asked for the patio. We were there to celebrate a special event. They said it would be about a 30 minute wait. I told them we were going to wait outside for the rest of our party. At 7:20 I went back in to check on our table and there was no one to be found. There were other parties waiting to check in. I finally saw the guy that checked us in and he and another waiter were at the bar taking Tequila shots and completely ignoring everyone waiting at the front. I went back outside and waited another 10 minutes and again went back in and could find no one and parties still waiting to be checked in. They finally came up to the front and I asked about our table. They finally set us outside on the patio. We waited another 15 minutes for someone to bring us water. We ordered drinks. They only brought one of the drinks we ordered and sat the other one on the table next to us that we had to grab ourselves after the waiter walked off (this is the waiter that was at the bar taking shots) He came back about 15 minutes later to take our order it is now around 8:00. We waited 30 minutes thinking our food should be coming out. The waiter came back and asked us if we wanted to order because the kitchen was closing!!!! We told them forget it we didn't want our food at that point it had been a terrible experience and we were just ready to leave. Also as we were waiting there were mice running around from table to table from the bushes near the restaurant. The waiter never apologized for what had happen and also tried to charge us for the 2 drinks that we had ordered. We refused to pay as he never even put our food order in. I will never return to this place or any other Felipe's. Since we were there for a special occasion it kind of put a damper on the evening but all we could do was laugh about it and know they lost customers for life! Maybe if the staff was actually doing their job instead of taking shots on the clock they could provide better service! As for the food I cannot give a review due to the fact that our waiter was drunk and never put our...
Read moreDiced potatoes in the ground beef? Really? Overall it wasn't bad. We had a chance to dine on the outdoor patio and the guy who was out overseeing things was very helpful. The waitress on the other hand was very unenthused. She was fairly attentive but her attitude wasn't great. She kept asking us if we we needed more time to order. My response was, are you in a hurry? She is a waitress right? She can't wait 2 minutes for us to order? Her response was "no, not really" I could tell. On to the food. It wasn't bad but, over-cheesed, and my food was burnt to my plate. Also, my taco fell apart as I tried to pull it off my plate. Good thing there was silverware. I mean, who doesn't want to eat a taco with a fork? Taste wasn't bad but my wife wasn't impressed. She is from South America though so difficult taste buds to please. Believe me, I know. The fact that they have ceviche on the menu is a laugh. If you want good ceviche, you ain't gonna find it in Kansas....lol. Cost was around 50 bucks but that included 4 overpriced beers. Also, the chips and salsa aren't bad but the chips are thick and and they serve very mild salsa so if you want spicy salsa, you have to ask for it. What they brought after we asked them for it was plenty hot. Overall, not bad considering the outdoor dining with a lake fountain view and table with umbrella. The portions were generous and I was very full when we left but if it's authentic Mexican you're after, this is not the place. We'll probably go to El Paisa...
Read moreOur server was friendly and happy, but the quality of Felipeâs ended there. We dined in on 28 March for the first time (after many years of hype) and were immediately underwhelmed. At 5p on a Friday the dinner rush was non-existent yet it took about ten minutes to be seated, and an additional ten for menus, chips and salsa plus drink orders. The regular salsa was akin to refrigerated pizza sauce. The âspicyâ was the same with a touch of maybe cholula and the physical menus were worn and greasy. We ordered the pancho villa and neither of us could finish. It had zero flavor or seasoning. Pale ground beef and chunks of roast beef. It tasted of flour tortilla, shredded cheese and unseasoned boiled meat with a touch of pickled jalapeño and iceberg lettuce. Tasty. Weâve come to realize that Wichita simply doesnât meet the mark if youâre accustomed to proper Mexican food from border towns throughout Texas and New Mexico or Mexico itself. Unfortunately, I canât even say itâs a worth a stop for drinks plus chips and salsa (they also didnât have the beer I...
