Was on the west side and decided to try the Paradise Donuts Maple St location after several years....
First off, the dining area was very dirty. There was 3 staff behind the counter. One young lady was dedicated in folding boxes, and she was cranking them out...she was doing her job. The other two...let's just say the were chatting about current events while customers were an after thought. One young lady was gathering my order while the other was manning the microwave...even though nothing was in it. To say that two out of 3 staff were apathetic about their duties would be a massive understatement.
Evidently the coffee machine continues to be broken from earlier posts. I paid over $5 for 2 large coffees that came out of a lever activated dispensing carafe. The were luke warm temperature and very bitter from having sat for far far too long. The apathetic twins evidently could not be bothered to brew fresh coffee....or the coffee was being brought in from elsewhere.. who knows..... -10/5
The glazed donuts were middle of the road...slightly chewy but the glaze was so thin you had to look closely to see it. Same with the donut holes. Even my 7 year old said they were just ok....2/5
The sausage rolls were interesting. The crust was extremely reminiscent of pizza dough crusts. No real flavor just chewy bread. The sausage was a generic cheese brat like thing that was slightly greasy after being warmed by the diligent microwave staff. Again, tasty but nothing spectacular. 3/5
I tried the pinecone, and was told it had a cinnamony filling which lead me to believe it was filled with...something. It turned out to just be a doughy, undercooked cinnamon roll rolled up in a ball with cuts on the outside. The glaze was water thin. 1/5
The old fashioned cake was perfect, 5/5.
I remember the quality being far superior the last time I was there and there certainly wasn't crumbs on the floor nor trash on the tables...but that was several years ago.
The 7 year old summed it up best
"Daddy, next time let's go to...
Read moreGot there around 9. Not very many choices at that point. But what we got was good. My favorite was glazed twist.
Edit: went earlier for my second time to this establishment. At 6:45am There were lots of choices. Based off of how much I was charged the first time. I doubled my order. And assumed I would be paying a little over 30 bucks for 2 dozen.. after ordering my total came to around 52. So. I guess the first time we went in they didn't charge us for specialty doughnuts and this time they did. There are no prices listed and nothing says what is considered specialty and what is not. These doughnuts are not good enough to charge this much. And I don't think i got as many specialty as I was charged for. So because of the lack of consistency in how they charge and the fact that it isn't clear what is upcharged and what is not . My once 4 star...
Read moreWhile we are a fan of the doughnuts here year round, particularly during summer when they have the lemon doughnuts. Those are absolutely our favorites! It’s officially become a family tradition to surprise the kids with holiday doughnuts Christmas morning and they are always delicious and fun and make the morning extra special. We are also impressed with their FB messenger responses. It’s always fast and helpful and with the online ordering even better! Only small constructive feedback would be any time we pick up there is confusion on if we paid or not, but that’s such a small thing compared to the rest of their customer service. Is there also anything better than drive through where you just say “pick out a dozen” and it’s always perfect. Grateful to have you so...
