My wife and I always make a point of visiting the Factory Store in Wildwood when we are passing through on the way home from a trip. We stopped on July 27th., 2020 and again on November 13th., 2020. One of our favorites have always been the Bloopers 3 pound box of assorted chocolates #20502. The box we purchased in July was $9.99 a box. Although they were "Bloopers", every individual piece was tasty and fresh. The box we purchased on November 13th was $19.99. Paying twice as much as in July was not the worst of the kickers. First it was the fact that they used the same box that was selling back in July and stuck a $19.99 label over the old $9.99 label thereby doubling the price. But even worse was that the Best Used by date on the box was dated "1 Nov 2019". The candies in this box were chalky colored from age and in some cases extremely dry, so that they broke into pieces when trying to bite into them.
We wrote to corporate in November sending copies of receipts and were promised a coupon refund. When we checked the status 30 days later in January 2021, they said the coupons came in but had errors so they had to reorder. They promised to send us a coupon as soon as they came in. After 45 more days we requested a status update with no reply. Called, no answer.
Just make sure you check the expiration date on your purchases. If...

Read moreRussell Stover Chocolate factory is a great place..rather out of the way down in Wildwood, Florida.
The store itself is clean and neat. It's well organized, and the employees are friendly and helpful. The store has quite a variety of different chocolates, including a large selection of sugar free. That's always a good thing in my book, since several of my family members are diabetic.
The store also has an ice cream counter with a decent variety of ice creams for sale. The coffee bar that goes with the ice cream counter is small but serviceable.
They also have a 'warehouse' section in the back of the store, where you can buy bloopers, slightly out of date chocolate (on my most recent visit, they had Easter candy discounted 75%...I was there in early November). That's nice, but you do need to be careful about the dates.
The store itself is a little expensive, in my opinion. The discounted and blooper candy is extremely reasonably priced. The new stuff, however, is definitely at full MSRP. That makes sense, since this is a Russell Stover store, but still........ Just an FYI to everyone.
All in all, a very nice store, if a bit on the...
