The decor: It’s is nicely decorated even though some of the wall furnishings are hung incorrectly. It’s kind of kitschy but has a welcoming feel. They are really playing off the whole canal theme but at least some time and effort was put into it. The Staff: They seemed very confused and disorganized. The dining room was half full and they seemed flustered and no clear communication was evident between them. Every member of the staff was trying to everywhere at once and nowhere at the same time. Instead of everybody having a clear and defined role. The Food: On one hand it is your usual pub grub just with a $10 up charge. On the other is a $25-$28 a plate upscale bistro. The wings were soggy($14 for 12) and the celery had to be prepped a week ago(shouldn’t be flexible). They weren’t sauced and you could tell they were battered way ahead of time.(Batter fell of in huge chunks. That happens when moisture permeates the bottom layer of breading and they sit overnight or longer)The blue cheese dressing tastes exactly like the ranch but with the addition of cheap blue cheese crumbles. The prime rib? cheesesteak is $15 and is about the same quality you can find in any local pizzeria. The roll was smothered in butter and completely soggy. The iceberg wedge was decent. The $6 chicken(2-3oz) on top of it was flavorless and mealy. After the apps and splitting the cheesesteak between all of us we decided to call it a night. The verdict: I don’t understand what this restaurant is trying to be. Either it needs to elevate its menu and skill of staff to match the $28 dinners and jazz fusion cocktail vibe they’re aspiring to be or be a local pub with decent food that their clientele clearly look like they feel more comfortable with. Not everyday to you get to see a guy with a lifted pick up truck eating a $16 burger while a geriatric is playing a 12 minute interpretative jazz flute solo in the background. Shocking to say the least but it made for an interesting Sunday night. I really wanted this place to succeed but they need to decide what they are and focus on just that instead of trying to be everything to...
Read moreThe Iron Mule is a new family favorite! Our experience was excellent from the moment we called ahead to make sure they were family friendly and served beer. ☺️ The man who answered the phone was so friendly and warm, we decided to take a chance, even though the restaurant is a little farther from home than we usually venture for a dinner with the kiddos.
On arrival, we were greeted warmly and led through the spacious dining room to a table offering a beautiful view of the canal and Delaware River. The dining room is filled with natural light, thanks to the large windows lining the outer walls.
Our server, Rae, was an absolute joy. She was warm, friendly, and oh so patient with us and our 3 hungry kiddos, ages 6, 8, and 10.
They have a nice beer selection of both drafts and bottles and the kids menu is great-from the little burgers to the homemade Mac and cheese-it's the kind of food I hope my kids don't finish so can eat their leftovers once they've gone to bed. 😜 (Oh, and the to-go containers are eco-friendly. 🌎💚)
We started off with the warm pretzels, which were delicious and presented in such a fun way! My kids even tried the angry mustard they're served with!
I had the Pepperjack Burger and fries. The burger was delicious and cooked exactly to order (I ordered it medium.) I do not exaggerate when I say the fries were perfection, including the presentation. Each order of fries was served in an adorable mini fry basket!
Every member of the staff we encountered was so welcoming and friendly, it felt like a family run business. It has that feeling that can only be created when the staff truly enjoys being there and cares about its patrons.
We were told that Wednesday nights kids under 12 eat free with each paying adult and Thursday nights are karaoke!
10 out of 10, would recommend. We can hardly...

When we first entered we were greeted by Yaya who was super nice and extremely friendly. (We were a little early for our reservation and we were immediately seated).
Yaya went over some menu items with us & answered any questions we had being it was our first time in there.
We were greeted by our server John who was fantastic!
For starters we went with the tempura vegetables and they were very tasty I was quite surprised.
We both decided that we were going to try burgers.
I got the Uptown Burger and my husband got the Mule Burger.. We cut them in half so we could each enjoy a little of each. I normally do not like barbecue sauce on my burger but I have to say the barbecue sauce & burger with the onion was delicious.
The mule Burger was very good as well. Nice char burger taste and crispy bacon. Make sure you get the Angry Mustard, you'll love it! (Ours had honey mustard but could have just been a mix up). Wasn't a big deal but Yaya brought us angry mustard and it has a little bit more kick.
We went with the homemade chips which were really good and crispy.
For drinks I had a watermelon mojito (well I had several because they were really good). Hubby got a beer-It was cold & he enjoyed it.
The staff was really friendly and again our waiter was very attentive throughout the entire evening from start to finish.
We got to meet Kate the owner, awesome lady & very nice.
I felt very comfortable there, like I was hanging out with my friends and I can't wait to go back.
Friendly staff, delicious hot fresh food, awesome drinks, good music courtesy of Scott Messina.
I would highly recommend The Iron Mule!! Nice people, casual...
