Members of my family order from Soul Boat weekly with no complaints; as a result, I felt safe to use their catering services for a repast on February 7, 2020, for the family of a member of my congregation. Admittedly, the repast was very early (11:30 AM) and I wanted and requested hot freshly fried chicken. The lady said I could pick it up the night before and reheat it in the morning; I declined. Having had a small catering business previously, I know fried food loses something once reheated. I specifically asked for freshly fried chicken; 100 pieces to be specific. She agreed and we set my pick-up time for 11:00 AM. The order was picked up by another member of my congregation...
I am sad to say the chicken was fried the night before and reheated by them! The skin was not crisp, and the meat was dry, tough, and woody. Additionally, I asked about receiving whole pieces of chicken and I was assured whole pieces is what we would receive. I am again sad to say that the breasts were cut into quarters and each quarter counted as a single piece of chicken.
Needless to say, I do not recommend using Soul Boat for a catered event. I feel they cut corners and do not have the same integrity with large quantities of food (catering services) as they do with the individual orders. HUGE MISTAKE! Catered events steer more individual customers in their direction.
Should you choose to use Soul Boat for a catered event, beware that they may fry your food the night before and dry it out by reheating it in the morning. Count your pieces. Buyer beware!

Read moreI NEVER write reviews but holy moly this food is unreal!!!! We ordered take out through grub hub and as soon as my driver handed me the food I could smell it through my mask! It instantly gave me a comfort feeling. First of all, let me start out by saying that the temp of the food was perfect for being delivered to me. Fried chicken is my favorite food and their fried chicken is TO DIE FOR!!!!! I will never get fried chicken locally from a business other than this one. Their greens are unreal, their potato salad is hands down the best potato salad I’ve ever eaten in my life, the banana pudding tastes like heaven on Earth!!! I don’t like mac&cheese (I know I’m crazy) but I knew I had to order it from here and it was soooo amazing it made me fall in love. I still can’t get over any of it. My boyfriend and I are SO happy that we found you guys, support local businesses 💓 WE WILL BE BACK FOR SURE, you’ve got 2 loyal customers + I will he letting all of my friends and...
Read moreI ordered via DoorDash. D5 Catfish dinner with "candy" yams, mac and cheese, cornbread and banana pudding. I need to know who cooked this because the name of this place is deceiving. There wasn't an ounce of "Soul" coming from this boat. Food was BLAND! Candy yams was boiled sweet potatoes, and the Mac and cheese was dry. Cornbread reminded me of a yeast rolls but with corn grains. Catfish was battered perfectly...but was not seasoned not even an hint of salt! It came with hot sauce that I didn't ask for but was thankful for, however, I didn't use it because I didn't finish. Banana pudding was jello pudding with 5 nilla wafers... an Italian restaurant down the road had better banana pudding, with bananas, whipped cream and nillas. This was NOT worth the $40 spent. After seeing google photos of the staff, I understand, the name is for propaganda. I will not order again. If I wanted bland food I would have requested a different vendor....
