Not at all a friendly staff. They will keep your change if you don't ask for it back. With the lunch special, you get the smallest piece of chicken with plenty of rice and peas and cabbage. The food will be cold when you receive it so prepare yourself, you'll have to take it home to warm it up. The taste of the food is just okay. I'm used to real Jamaica food that tastes more authentic. Thanks, but no thanks. I've given them at least three tries, so I'm done! I will not be returning. Good luck to all that try them and to themselves on their business adventures. And to Sun Island, look again, it was 6.99 pluses taxes, it cost 7.70. You should know your prices. You were quick to respond to the review, and you should've checked your facts. You put a lunch special out there with such little food, and by the way, you're large small portions as well and sucks as well. You're getting over on the neighborhood. I tried taking the nice way, but that negative response shows poor business class. I'd much rather go up the street to an authentic Jamaican restaurant, "First Choice." He's really Jamaican, unlike you. His lunch specials and other food don't skip out on portions! Keep treating your customers like this, and it will end this business quickly.

I ordered the salmon with rice and peas and cabbage. Ideally, I should have asked what the sauce was on the salmon first. It was way too sweet for my liking. The salmon did have a nice sear on it. The sweetness of the salmon sauce kinda ruined my rice and peas and the cabbage needed a bit more seasoning. Overall, I would go back and try something else.

1st time at this location, the ox tails tasted like they were soaked in tomato sauce. The mac and cheese looks like it was made yesterday. The pineapple ginger was fizzy and tasted old. The only thing that was decent was the yams. Highly disappointed in the food couldn’t even eat it 53 dollars down the drain.

Avoid this establishment at all costs.

Extremely unprofessional employees with absolutely unacceptable serving ration size. Food was burnt as well as raw.

Considering the demography for our neighborhood it was expected to compete with other local restaurants but surprisingly disappointed.

Ordered online for convenience as well as waited 20 minutes before driving, to only be inconsideratly waiting an additional 20 minutes after arrival for an incomplete order.

The bacon and egg sandwich was $7 of regret and dismay. Eggs burnt on one side but hidden and disgusting. Bacon was ridiculously raw and rubbery to the point the Dogs didn't even eat them.

Ackee and salt fish was a platter of shattered hopes and dreams. For $17 this was a meal prepared by an individual that could care less about the customers but is more concerned with profit gains. Literally 2 teaspoons of ackee and salt fish, missing the boiled dumplings and Jamaican Yans, with over cooked sweet plantains and undercooked boiled plantains.

The Callaloo with rice and beans was priced at $11 highway robbery. Once again this establishment only cares about profit gains as demonstrated by what was received. To my astonishment more than 90% of the platter was rice that tasted like it wasn't washed with barely any Callaloo.

I will be anxiously waiting for this restaurant to CLOSE as this is not a reflection of the cultures worldwide notoriety for quality as well as portions to include an array of flavors. This is not a demonstration of our neighborhoods deep rooted local Mom and Pops stellar reputation for quality and quantity.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT EAT HERE!

UPDATED RESPONSE:

Sun Island Bar-BQ & Jerk (Owner) an hour ago Sorry for your wish for us to close soon ...but this is our 4 location growing strong.....

ONLY 2 LOCATIONS WITH A MULTITUDE OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS REGUARDING QUALITY OF FOOD AS WELL AS PORTION OF RATIONS.

IRRELEVANT TO QUANTITY. FOOD IS CHEAPER AT COMPETITORS ESTABLISHMENTS AS WELL AS BETTER PORTIONS.

....you are so honored to come again

POINT HAS BEEN REITERATED.....

NO APOLOGIES OR REMEDY TO IMPROVE CUSTOMER SERVICE OR ISSUES WITH HOW FOOD WAS COOKED.

WITH AN UNDERTONE OF IGNORANCE AND DISRESPECT.

All for black own business but you have to come right; especially, when your serving a predominantly black community! First off if you see 5 star reviews it’s because they automatically have you scan a bar code that leads you directly to a Google review In order to get a lunch special which is what I got, so in most cases the reviews won’t be a honest one. On top of that, the lunch special came with a hot can soda 😞. The portion size which is very small for what you pay, secondly, you do not have the option to get any side of the your choice etc. Mac and cheese is at an additional charge but you can get rice; who ever hear of that? Food is average for a Jamaican restaurant but there are better choices in the area. Definitely, will...
