Giovanni's Pizza — Restaurant in Willmar

I am new to the area and was looking for a new pizza place when I found this eatery that had good reviews. When I called to place the order I was put on hold three different times and when I finally got around to clarifying my order the person taking the order just sounded like they were annoyed with me. I went to go pickup my order and the masks sign was up, which is fine since I keep it in the car just in case, but nobody working there was wearing a mask. Now I’m not super strict with the mask so I don’t expect anybody else to be, but in a customer service business you should probably at least LOOK like you care about state health mandates. When I got the order the guy was the same as on the phone. Having worked in customer service for years, one of my personal pet peeves was when customers would throw their credit card onto the table, like they didn’t have the time of day to just hand it to you. This guy did the same, took the card swiped it and just tossed it back to me. Sure, maybe this was some method of not coming into contact due to covid, but if that were the case, he could have just... placed the card down. He literally tossed it at me. The pizza and wings were ok. The wings were very meaty (awesome) but there was almost no sauce. Honestly, the pizza tasted the same as little caeser’s, only twice the price. If this were a place like LC’s and their prices were more comparable I would definitely raise this review; unfortunately, this is a place that tries to pass itself off as a higher end pizza parlor and it absolutely is not. The pizza here was good. I got a Large Taco pizza with sour cream on it.

The sour cream could have been distributed better, in my opinion. I was lucky if I got some on every piece.

The reason I remove a star for food is because the pizza was cut in such a perplexing manner that it left tiny pieces and large pieces, it just seemed very haphazard and the pizza was kind of butchered.

The atmosphere loses one star because they have an arcade machine and a pinball machine. I would have liked to play at least one, but we were informed that the pinball machine is non-functional, and the DigDug machine that they have was turned off.

Why have non-functioning machines? It would have been nice to play some while I waited for my pizza.

Overall the whole place was good and the flavor of the pizza is top notch, definitely...

I'm giving food a 1 and here's why. I absolutely love giovannis pizza in my book I don't think it gets better I've been enjoying there pizza since the day they opened and in all these years I can honestly say I've never had a bad pizza from them, until last night 06/02/23. The girl who made did everything wrong there wasn't nearly enough sauce an way to much cheese and it was burnt don't know how but it was. Giovannis has an awesome distinct flavor and the pizza I got last night was not it. I'm not one to leave reviews but giovannis is a restaurant who's food has remained spectacular for over 30 years and last night was terrible and I do not want to them slack off and lose what they have and get a don't care attitude like some other restaurants in willmar have.
