Lunch was pretty bad, pie was just o.k. Nothing special Edit: More specific by request: The spiral french fries were good. The shrimp reminded me of the shrimp in the bag at Walmart that I can make myself. My shrimp were under cooked. I broke apart two shrimp that had fried together and the batter between them was not cooked through. My wife's fries were almost white they were so under cooked. Her sandwich was underwhelming. My wife got the fresh strawberry pie and I had the lemon pie minus the meringue and add whip cream on both. We shared they pies. The crust wasn't flaky, it was more crumbly. It didn't have a strong pie crust taste, which is more to my liking, but I don't care much for pie. My wife, on the other hand, ranks pie as her favorite desert. She noticed the blandness of the crust and the lack of flakiness right away. The strawberry pie tasted like fresh strawberries with the store bought glaze in it, something I could have made at home. The lemon pie had nice filling, but the lemon was really toned down. I would have preferred a stronger lemon flavor. So, in our opinion, the pies didn't stand out and were not really special. The lunch was disappointing as we both had two items to eat and each had an item that we didn't want to or couldn't eat. I shared my spiral fries with my wife, so she could have something besides her sandwich. I appreciate your offer of a free slice of pie, but we live a couple of hours away. We drove there special (because the wife loves pie) for the experience. We have no desire...
Read moreI only stopped here for a slice of pie, so that's what this review is based on. Making my way through Indiana, I made it a point to try several different (all well loved) sugar cream pies, and I can honestly say that all 4 were big-time winners in my book. Of the 4 I tried, I did have a very favorite, and I can't say that this was that, but it was definitely on par with all the others, and the very reasonable price point really puts it over the top! (The one that was my favorite was considerably pricier, with Mrs. Wick's restaurant easily being the least pricey place selling by the slice.) I certainly felt like I got my money's worth and then some, and some day I will definitely make my way back to try several of their other offerings, which all looked very...
Read moreFamous for their sugar cream pies. Great place for lunch if you have an hour. Older crowd is not in a hurry. Hometown diner sounds and feel. Many tables and counter seating.
Liked the haddock special and the cole slaw. Got the last piece of butterscotch pie! Sell whole pies and crusts too. Tried the apple crumble and the German chocolate... Can't go wrong on the pie. Thought there was no way they had a table with an almost filled parking lot .. it turns over quickly. Only neg was breakfast. Food is typical fare but slow and forgetful server took 8 minutes just to get to us and they were not busy. Two...
