Jack Slades Steakhouse — Restaurant in Windom

While the place is nice and the staff is friendly (for the most part). The food is NOT the best. I ordered their prime rib special medium with a salad and a side of vegetables. The prime rib wasnt even cooked. Got it and it was red at the end I cut into. Sent it back to be cooked longer. Came back in a couole minutes and this time I cut into the middle and it was red / blue. No way it could be eatten. The server was apologetic and asked if she could take it back. At that point I said no that Im not sure the chef/cook knows what they are doing, and said i would just like my check. BUT I will only oay for the side of vegetables and a salad. Came back and she said they did a discount. My other half took the bill and said he would handle it. Anither server became rude and made several unnecessary comments about we were getting a discount. Mind you I only had 2 or 3 bites of the prime rib. We paid the bill paying for the salad and vegetables and my other halves meal and left. We will NOT be returning. This was not the first meal that they did...

Did not have a great time here. The food was ok but not something I would need to go back for. The worst was the service, we got sat down and it took awhile for a server to greet us and take our order. We had to order our drinks at the same time we ordered the food and probably took 20 min to get our drinks. The food started to come out but orders were wrong and some of the food didn't even come out. So they put in new orders and instead of rushing it, they took their sweet time to get the food out and everyone else was done eating by the time the other food came out. We asked for our tickets and they were nice enough to discount the meals that didn't come out on time but it took over 30 min just to get our tickets to which we were told to go to the bar to pay instead. Why was that not brought up when we asked for our tickets 30 min prior?

Had driven past this place countless times, and finally decided to try it out. I ordered one of the specials that night, a double chicken breast with swiss and mushroom and a baked potato. The portion size was fantastic for the money but the dish lacked any sort of flavor overall so I was rather disappointed with it. The server was small-town friendly and pleasant to work with.

One thing I would HIGHLY recommend that this restaurant do IMMEDIATELY is to replace the ceiling tiles with water damage and repair whatever roof damage is causing the leaks. It appears that there could be mold growing on the ceiling tiles, but even if this isn't the case, it is very unsightly for customers eating food underneath such a ceiling. Who knows what lurks above the water damage that...
