The Finn and feather has gone down the drain. The food no longer is very good. They eliminated most of their good dishes they've had nothing interesting anymore. They're not the same. They have too many kids working in the kitchen too much drinking and drugs going on in the back. I was attacked by the staff for picking up an order. I guess when I asked if I could order a container of ice cream which they said they had and she put it in my order. that must have completely through them off. They told me I'll get what I get.. then the cooks came out to yell at me telling me they didn't want my business I had no idea what was going on. And their manager drunk out of his mind as usual tried to start a fight with me in the parking lot. For absolutely no reason except ordering food for a curbside pickup. And when I did get the food that they said they already made but they didn't want to give it to me, I should have just left right there. But I waited patiently and got the food. I remember getting some appetizers along with or something else chicken wing appetizer. Well they were absolutely spoiled they served me rotten chicken wings. And God forbid I would go back and complain I had to throw them all away. Was it intentional I don't know but the quality of the Fin and Feather has gone completely down. Ever since the new manager took over the place completely and totally sucks I will never ever ever step foot through their door again. When attacking customers in the parking lot and a drunk cook another guy that was so high on something tweaking like crazy and twitching all over the place. They were so filthy and dirty. Can't believe they actually touched people's food disgusting people. and then a drunken manager so drunk he shouldn't have been behind the wheel of his truck. I'm attacked in the parking lot for absolutely no reason except they don't like when I return the food that they would get wrong each and every time. Then they would get mad at me because they're Cooks made a mistake. Maybe they should stay off the alcohol and drugs and get rid of the stressed out alcoholic manager get some professional people in there. If you find something you like in there next time you go and order it it won't be the same and you won't like it. This has been proven time and time again. So adios to Fin and Feather. You'll never get a dime of my money again. You're pretty much just in existence for your alcohol you really can't mess that up too bad. But I don't drink and I'm sure you're alcohol is way overpriced like...
Read moreI like to take long, exploratory drives and I found this unique restaurant one day after going to the lake. I couldn't stay to eat there but was determined to go back and I did last night.
I had the haddock which was perfectly cooked with minimal seasoning which is great for that fish; its own buttery flavor needs to come through and it very much did. My mom had the broasted chicken which was so good that she ate too much of it. I think it was worth the overly full tummy. We both had baked potatoes and they were fine. The herb bread we made sure to take home. I recommend picking some up before a holiday and warming it up for the dinner. I asked our server if people do that and she said that they do. I can see why; it's lovely.
When Schreiner's in FDL closed, I thought I might never get another bowl of clam chowder as good but Fin's is just as good even though it's a different recipe. I liked it so much that I had more to cap off my meal.
Our iced tea came in a carafe so that we could refill as needed. I would like to see more restaurants do that. All that we might need was on the table or at the salad bar for the most part but Lynda was prompt in bringing whatever we asked for that wasn't there.
She was very accommodating overall and took care of several tables in the dining room easily. That's difficult to do but she's adept. Most of all I felt genuine friendliness and she appreciated my positive feedback.
It was dark out but we could see the water. We were sat by a window and the deck was right outside. I always seek restaurants that are close by water. I can't have a view of the Pacific in this state but we do have lakes and rivers.
I'll be back when it's warmer. The prices are reasonable and the food quality is excellent. I will probably try one of the burgers because they look like something a cut above most establishments' burgers, given the thick patties and what look to be buns baked in house with a nice egg wash for deep golden color. That made them look so appetizing that I almost regretted my fish. Almost.
I cannot go on forever but I will say that I don't often find 7 or 8 different items I'd like to try on one menu and I do with Fin 'N' Feather. Mom had a hard time deciding, too. That means we need...
Read moreFin N Feather is located on the Wolf River in Winneconne, WI. Very pleasant supper club. With outside seating. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxing. Ordering drinks and looking at the menu was pretty quick and the Old Fashion drink was made perfectly the Wisconsin way. The restaurant has lots of windows which has a perfect view of the river making it easy to see all the fishing boats and people fishing off the bridge. According to my husband, he wanted the windows longer so he could see more of the fish being caught 🙂 When we placed our order for our meal, it came out very fast. Then again we were at the Fin N Feather early. People have the choice to eat at the bar or in the dining room or outside in the summer. We ate at the bar and I didn't mind this because the bar had an overhang that was wide enough to push the chair in close enough to comfortably eat at. For our food, we ordered the Shrimp plate and Perch plate. Prices are comparable to other supper clubs. We both had a decent amount of food , especially the french fries (which were very good) As far as my shrimp, the size was perfect. However the shrimp batter tasted a little old. Maybe it is a different batter than I am not used to. Stan said his potato salad had little flavor, like it was missing mustard or something. He liked that it was creamy. I liked the real potato taste. Stan's meal also came with light rye bread and soft, creamy butter. The coleslaw had very little flavor and was not creamy. As for the Perch, he liked that it wasn't fishy tasting and the flavor of the breading wasn't heavy. All in all we had a good time with the bartender...
