Replying to @Gabrielle is this the best wing in New Jersey? #southjersey #berlinnj #wingreview

For years, the Golden Nugget Tavern has been on my radar, and I finally decided to drop by. This hidden gem, off the beaten path, did not disappoint and certainly won’t be the last time I stop in. First impressions? It's an old-school bar and grill with a lively vibe. The staff is super friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. I was pleasantly shocked by the unbelievable specials – all-day $2 PBRs and a $1.25 meatball sandwich that was really freaking good. The place had a nice crowd, all of whom were friendly, enhancing the overall experience. Now, having heard about their wings for years, I had to try them. They were decent, but they serve half wings, which is a bit of a letdown. Any real wing bar serves full wings – otherwise, it can feel like they don't quite know what they're doing. The sauce had a bit of spice, but nothing overwhelming. I’d rate the wings a 7.3. Given that this place is less than 30 minutes from Pic-a-lilli Inn, the gold standard for wings on the mid-East Coast, I expected a little more from the Golden Nugget's wings. Nonetheless, the ambiance and other food options make it a great spot. I'll definitely be back for those, but when I'm really craving wings, I'll head up 206 to the "Pic."

We got there early afternoon on a Sunday. Apparently they have amazing wings. So my son got cheesesteak, I got wings and we split some old bay fries. It lived up to its hype. The wings were not bread but still so crispy. And the sauce was not at all spicy but it was still very good. Do not expect to get different flavors. They only carry one. Their sauce. So my son doesn’t eat fries but he actually liked theirs. The bar tender was also the waitress and she was kind, helpful and incredibly sweet. They played a lot of country music and some how transitioned to Eminem but we enjoy different genres of music so it was all good. When you first walk in you will see a pool table and bar. You have to walk to the other side and seat yourself. It wasn’t to crowded when we arrived (the bar was) but not the tables. As we were leaving it seemed to be getting a little busy. We look forward to returning.

This place is an awesome, hitting gem of South Jersey! Great atmosphere, great music, bartenders have always been awesome, the prices are reasonable, and the food is outstanding!

I only go here for the wings, however, however, my girlfriend has saved a bunch of stuff off the menu and has always been happy. Last night it was the cheesesteak eggrolls, before it was a cheesesteak, or a burger, whatever she’s gotten she’s enjoyed.

However, let’s talk about the wings. I’ve usually stick to bone in regular wings, they really only have one wing sauce, but they’ve recently added a jerk flavor? I haven’t tried that one yet, but I’ve heard good things and I will next time. The source to use Tony’s wing sauce. Places like Mount Royal and use it, you can purchase it at Bringhurst meats or some other small markets in the area. It’s really good. The wings always come out perfectly Kris Juicy always have enough sauce and blue cheese is really good as well. They also offer, and I am usually not a boneless wing guy. Because boneless wings are a thing chicken nuggets, and I don’t even know what they call them on the menu, but I’m pretty sure they call Mike nuggets. But they are ham, breaded chicken breast pieces, cut up and fried and covered wing sauce. They’ve never come out. They always come out in the mood for wings but things off the bone will split a double order.

Anyway, I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s really good, just know it’s like a country dive bar. Nothing fancy just really good people...

Update

Got wings again recently to give it one last shot, and they were burnt all the way to the inside of the wing. Love this place, but my god…

The last five times I have gone here, they have burnt the wings pretty bad. The last time, I spent extra money for additional sauce, since I had a feeling they would burn the wings again and the sauce helps cover up the issue. They charged me, included no extra sauce, and the wings barely had anything on them at all. Their wings have gotten smaller and smaller over the last year or so. Out of the 30 wings we got for the three of us, we counted 4 flats. One wing was straight-up fried bone. And the bone was burnt too. Lmao.

The wings are what they are famous for, and the last five times I have been there, they have been embarrassingly bad. My fiancé and a couple friends confirmed the same, as I needed a confirmation to make sure I wasn’t losing my mind, or being hyper critical.

I like going to the Nug. It is my favorite type of dive bar. That said, the wings and the value are just not there anymore. My step-son said the following quote: “it breaks my heart to admit it, but Buffalo Wild Wings has better wings lately. And BWW is to wings, what McDonalds is to burgers.”

Will still go for beer, and fun times. Don’t think I’ll ever get food here again.

Out of respect to small businesses, the solid bar tenders, and my love for the establishment, I will give it a five. But the tradeoff is an explanation to set...

I heard this place was great when it came to hot wings and read the reviews online but when I went there I forgot oh yea Im black and was treated horrible.. I sat down and the waitress never gave me service and the owner was behind the bar saying I'll serve who the hell I want to serve and one of the customers at the bar was like I guess the NWORD went to the wrong place and I walked out..

The review said friendly neighborhood bar and by that they mean friendly white neighborhood bar.. Yea I was treated horrible and I would never go back there and I recommend that minority's or people of color never go here unless you want to know how it felt when our ancestors couldn't eat at Woolworth in the 60’s and if they wanted food they had to get it from the back but this place didn't give me any food at all.. If you're a minority don't go to this place..

I guarantee the owner is in the kkk or some white supremacist hate group the way he treated me but make a story short go to pic-a-lilli and I’m black Nd not related to anyone there but the food is great and they don't discriminate but for some reason you still want to eat here, make sure you come with a white guy that’s a friend of the bar or I guarantee you will get treated...
