A memory evoking and present experience for the senses.
Ok, as dramatic as that sounds, it really resonates that way for me.
I finally got to get a chance to try out Perrotti’s NY Deli. I say finally, because, I am in Summerport and they are basically in my backyard, but between all the craziness, I have not had the chance.
A very friendly cast of food creators welcomed me in as they asked what I wanted. I asked them in turn, what a favorite was. The answer: the Chicken Ranchero Sub.
They were right.
I’m from New England and have spent a lot of time in a lot of cities that know subs in and out. Since moving to this area, I have not found that place that dials it in the way I remember… till now.
The toasted sub roll, that is eyed, not timed. The cut of the veggies not measured, but placed to cover the sub and create that “every quality bite” taste effect,
The sub was heated correctly, the way the cheese was melted to the cool of the veggies to the warmth of the roll. It was all in harmony.
From the smell, to the look, to the taste and then to the memories of some of the best subs Ive experienced in the past, felt like they connected to the present.
Many throw NY, NYC and New York in the title and that’s all it is, part of a title. But that title is honored in the freshness, the taste, the delivery and the presentation. An outstanding experience across the board and I look forward to trying other menu items to see what...
Read moreThe worst customer service experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. My family went for lunch on our way out of town. We ordered our food To Go but at the last minute decided to sit and eat part of our meal there so my 17 year old wouldn’t have to eat while driving. A staff member came over and lectured us for 5 minutes (loudly, so everyone in the restaurant could hear) about not ordering food to go if we planned to eat it there because it cost them extra money to wrap each sandwich in paper. It was 5 sandwiches and our total bill including chips and drinks was $84. My teenage kids said they felt like they were in trouble. It was super uncomfortable. As soon as he finished talking, we quit eating and wrapped our sandwiches back up and left. We have eaten there many times because it’s very close to us and we like to support small businesses, even though they are more expensive than other sub shops. We will...
Read moreI have been looking for a deli that has the best meats, potato salads and options for the money and karate 's is just the place I was looking for. The last time I had German potato salad was in an Amish market in New Jersey and I have not been able to find that anywhere since. So I will definitely be back to get more of that. And the chicken salad and egg salad were both phenomenal. The roast beast normally comes with Swiss lettuce mayonnaise on the Kaiser roll, but I opted out for the Swiss and got monster cheese instead. I believe I spoke with one of the owners and he was very patient with me asking all the questions about the food, the history of the establishment and very welcoming. Not intimidating at all. I felt very welcome. I am very happy with the lunch that I had and I will be back for more. I even asked for it to go box so that I can share it with my...
