Jac's Corner — Restaurant in Winter Haven

My 1st visit and it won't be my last. Today was our 20th Anniversary and Birria Tacos was my "special" dinner request. I have been wanting to try Birria Tacos since they became all the rage last year and finally did!! After seeing all the reviews for Jac's corner and his posts I knew he would be my first place to try them. The owner stood out front greeting all who arrived, took and processed your order. He made friendly small talk with all in between jumping in and out of the truck and assisting the chef. You could tell he loves life and appreciates his staff and customers.

Birria Tacos w/Consomme- As delicious as I imagined they would be. The meat is perfectly seasoned, perfect texture and moist. The onion and cilantro both fresh, crisp and plentiful. The consomme added a nice flavor though it was not needed because they were so tasty and moist without it, but it would have felt illegal not to dip!

Birria Sandwich-The husband had this and though I normally take a bite of his food I was too busy enjoying mine that I forgot🤦‍♀️. He enjoyed it. He's a picky eater so there was no dipping it in the consomme or touching the cilantro and onions, but just meant extra for my rice and beans😋 Again the meat was so do flavorful and juicy that he enjoyed it just fine without dipping it.

Rice and beans- perfect ratio of rice to beans. Both very flavorful. I added the cilantro and onions because I love cilantro & onions and not because it needed it.

Pork egg rolls- OMG... So good! I love egg roll skins and this was a nice match with the pork. The amount of pork stuffed in them was crazy!! Like it could have half the pork and still be plenty. The bbq sauce was very good as well.

Fries- I recently stated in a review how fries are fries and I rarely find them special. Well these are the special fries!! They have a crispy coating that gives them the perfect crunch and flavor. Second to McDonald's (I know🤷‍♀️) these are my favorite restaurant fries.

A whole hearted 10/10. If you haven't been, but have been considering it run...

Found this place on Google after my daughter's college softball games, and decided to give it a try after reading such great reviews. This place did not disappoint! The owner, Pops, greeted us and was very friendly. We read the menu, then he made a couple recommendations after we asked for some. We chose the pork egg rolls (incredibly tender pork!), which came with BBQ sauce for dipping. We also ordered brisket tacos and chicken tacos that had a different name... I just can't remember what they were called. Those were delicious. The brisket taco had mozzarella cheese in it, and also came with a dipping sauce, as well as a sauce that was pretty hot. The flavors were incredible. We ate inside, and Pops even stopped by our table to check on us and see how the food was. Indoor seating is limited, and I called ahead to find out if they had room, as we'd been out on the softball field all day and were done with the sun. Visit this place if you get the chance... the food reasonably priced, very tasty...

My first and only time eating here, I was charged 8% sales tax as opposed to 7%. And when I inquired about it, he lied and gave me false information as if I couldn't verify what he was telling me by simply googling and checking with other business owners.

It raised my suspicion when he took my debit card and didn't show me the tablet screen nor offer me a receipt. So after reviewing my checking account balance, I noticed that I'd been charged 10 cents more than what I should have been. Only a couple cents more, but it's about the principle and moral ethic, and it's technically FRAUD what this guy is doing. I've since reported this to the appropriate authorities in hopes that they will put a stop to this criminal activity.

The attached messages will show that this vendor was aware that he was charging more than what he should have been. I will never eat here again. As for the food, wasn't the worst I've had but not worth what they're...
