First time and last time visiting. Ordered take out through Uber eats (which was very convenient) and my order was ready when I arrived so that was a huge plus. I ordered an order of quesabirria tacos (my favorite), 2 carne asada tacos, 2 chorizo tacos, and a pound of the carne asada. My chorizo tacos were missing altogether, even though they were on the receipt, and the pound of carne asada was placed on top of all other items in the bag. Normally not a big deal, but the way it was packaged (a styrofoam tray similar to what you would get raw meat from in the grocery store with a piece of aluminum foil covering it) allowed for the grease from carne asada to pour over everything else in the bag. This not only made for a huge mess when I went to take everything out of the bag when I got home, but also stained my seats in the car because it leaked through the plastic bag.
That being said, the carne asada tacos tasted pretty good, nothing special. I would rate a 6/10 and the cilantro tasted pretty fresh. The limes didn't have a lot of juice and the onion tasted stale without much flavor at all. The birria tacos had a nice spicy spice to them but that was all. Very little cheese which would have helped the very dry beef, and almost no flavor whatsoever. I'd hoped the consomme would have helped, but it was very watered down tasting. I did get the hint of clove flavor out of it so that was nice, but the other flavors I'm accustomed to were missing. For the birria tacos compared to the numerous other places I have visited I would give a 3/10.
This place has a lot of potential and the staff seemed friendly. I can usually overlook an issue or two given that I spent a lot of time in the service industry and I understand how things go sometimes, but missing items, poor packaging, then the mediocre quality of food all on my first visit drive me to recommend against visiting La...
Read moreAs soon as you walk in it smells like moth balls. We order the Agua de pina( horrible it artificial powder pina) Mexican coke was flat. The queso and chips had a funny taste. I order the Flautas they was extremely hard like if they are old and stale , the use sour cream instead f Mexican creama mozzarella cheese, instead of queso fresco. My husband steak torta was ok but the cheese wasn’t the right one. This is not real Mexican food more of Tex-Mex . They gave us the food first and we had to wait for our drinks which we had to yell for them to come to the front since my husband was choking and they are in the back. We will not be coming again. Also I think they change owners because it not the same when we came about a year ago. $30 went to waste and...
Read moreThis place is as simple and basic as you can get. The menu is on the wall. You pick up your own food at the counter and you sit down. But that makes no difference whatsoever. BECAUSE THE FOOD HERE IS OUTSTANDING! This is somewhere that you go when you love authentic food. Food that is made from scratch… food that is fresh and delicious. And for what you get, it is extraordinarily affordable. This is not where you go on date night, unless your date loves authentic Mexican food. This is undoubtedly my favorite restaurant in Winter Haven, and it is always a treat to go there. My only regret is that I don’t have a bigger stomach, because it is all outstanding and I want to...
