My girlfriend and I visited Winter Park and loved it. The kitchen staff at Lunch Rock was excellent, but this place gets 1-star from me, in large part thanks to the bar staff.
There's limited bar seating at Lunch Rock, which is fine. That's most bars. My gf and I snagged a spot at the bar and ordered two mixed drinks, got up, got food (you can't order food at the bar - dumb), and sat back down. We finished our food and decided we wanted another round of drinks and a shot, and we'd be on our way.
Not so much. Marcia and Roxanne were the two bartenders on duty. We ordered another round of our drinks, and Marcia screwed my drink up - but quickly gave me the somewhat "correct" order, despite using a different product for the mixer nonetheless. Whatever.
My girlfriend attempted to order shots during this time, but Marcia walked away. That was attempt No. 2 to order shots.
My girlfriend then asked Roxanne for a round of shots, and she told us she'd be right with us. About 5-7 minutes pass, before my gf gets (rightfully) annoyed, to which she is asked if "everything is alright young lady."
No, it's not alright. We closed out our tab, and wrote about our disdain on the receipt. I watched the manager read the receipt - which simply said "We tried to order shots 3 times... radio silence" with a sad face - and he did not make any attempt to rectify the problem.
It's a neat place 11,200 feet high and all, but that is some of the worst bar staff I've seen, especially for the prices. It's not like we were trying to order $2 Sesame St. shots -- the shots are $12/ea there for Patron. Which is fine, but the price doesn't match the service at all.
For much better service, go to Club Car at Mary...
Read moreWe ate here twice this week on our ski trip to Winter Park. The first time was on a Friday and we had a HARD time to find 2 seats. We had to spy someone leaving and pounce on the spot. We ordered 2 lunches and the food was very good but the price seemed a bit high even with our Ikon Pass discount. It’s kind of inconvenient that the restrooms are downstairs. Hard to do stairs in ski boots. The fries were outstanding but enough for 4 people. We also loved the French dip sandwich. Overall we liked it and returned again on Monday (was almost as crowded as Friday). It just seems like the room is over capacity...
Read moreIf it werent for the speed my food came out and the french fries tasting like heaven, this place would have gotten a single star. First off, I paid 35 dollars for a lunch with a beer and a vitamin water. The mountain top cost of this restaurant was a bit over the top. You could honestly feel them fleecing you. The food was unimaginative and relatively bland and there is essentially no place to sit. I understand the idea of charging high costs for mountain top restaurants, but at least others I went to allowed you to relax by a fire or have speciailty cocktails made... save yourself some cash and...
