Chibugan Cafe & More — Restaurant in Winterville

Had an enjoyable lunch at Chibugan Cafe & More today. Husband and I shared the $18.99 Chibugan combo with a mango boba tea. The combo was huge and included braised chicken adobo, pancit (noodles,) pork skewers, and lumpia (like eggrolls) with rice. I really enjoyed the adobo and skewers. Both were very tender and flavorful. I could probably just make a meal out of the skewers alone. They also offer ice cream, desserts, sandwiches, and salads. The owners are very friendly, and the shop also included some Asian groceries, like Pocky snacks, spam, and different sauces. The parking is a little tricky because you have to enter from Moores Grove Rd into the gravel parking lot. There are no designated “parking spots,” so you kind of have to wing it. FANTASTIC lil spot! Definitely worth coming out to Winterville for if you live in Athens or parts nearby. Not just food, but they also sell some snacks and dry goods like instant ramen, sauces, etc. A fun selection of flavored Taiwanese sodas, too. And ice cream! And coffee drinks!

I recommend the platter if you're interested in trying Filipino food. Very filling, and a great deal for $15. Pansit was pure comfort food, and lumpia in the sweet chili sauce were addicting but BAH GAWD the best thing was those pork skewers. The smokey flavor was intoxicating.

Also, everyone was very sweet and all about making folks feel comfortable.

These are the sweetest people!! I have yet to try their Filipino dishes (but I will soon, mark my word) but have started defaulting there to get the mocha I get every single morning. They know my order before I even get to the cash register, they ask me how I’m doing and about my life, and they have incredibly fast service delivered with a big smile and lots of kind words.

They occupy the “cursed business” in Winterville, the building that nobody has ever stayed in for long, but I have full confidence that they’ll overcome the alleged bad mojo there just because of how wonderful they are. They’ve done a great job with everything.
