Garfias Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Winterville

This was my first experience and it was a to-go order. They opened in 2023. Family owned and operated which I had the pleasure of discerning myself from my experience. My expectations for typical American-Mexican cuisine were far exceeded. Rice, beans, ground beef and queso dip have to be spot on for me to consider it a regular haunt for myself and they hit all the marks by far!! They're using real lard :) I ordered mixed fajitas as a creature of habit, I usually do twice a week. While there wasn't as much char as I prefer, there was a decent reaction on the well marinated chicken and what I assume was flank or top round from the lack of marbling. It was great! Chips and tortillas were fresh an hour before they closed. I was also given some house made hot sauces to try which were awesome! I'll definitely spread the word about this spot as they certainly deserve it! It's about 5 minutes from the QuikTrip on Lexington Rd. All in all, it was a great experience just to pick up my order! We are glamping in Lexington GA and wanted a good meal at a dog friendly restaurant. The three of us humans + pup sat on patio and everyone’s food was fresh and delicious. The menu is big, the portions are large, the prices are reasonable, and the service was fast and friendly. And THE CHURROS - dear lord - the best I’ve ever had. The one thing I’d like to note is we asked for extra jalapeños and cilantro on the side and server didn’t mention to me that they would charge $2 for each of those. Not a huge deal but I do think she should have let me know before the bill came. Oh well. We don’t regret our visit, and advise anyone...

We are thrilled to have this wonderful restaurant in Winterville! First of all, the service was wonderful. The lady that took care of us and was very pleasant. Came back to fill drinks and make sure the food was good. The food was also excellent! It's a small place inside but who cares? Great place and we will be visiting to eat there probably at least 2 times a month. Right now, to me, this is the best Mexican restaurant in all of the Athens area when you compare customer service...
