My boyfriend, myself and 2 children decided to check out this spot around 4:30 on a Sunday night. The adults were brought our meals first, then my eldest's a few minutes later, and then my little one getting his about 5 minutes after that. I should have heeded the advice from other reviewers and avoided anything with chicken fingers. I got a mouthful of raw batter with the ones that came with my dinner combo. I checked my son's sweet and sour fingers to find the same. We weren't checked on to ask how things were or if we needed anything, which resulted in us taking silverware from another table and having to get up and ask for hot mustard. The sesame chicken tasted exactly like the general Tsaos, except with seeds on it. The duck sauce was flavorless and the rice was mushy and bland. We were only asked how things were when brought our check. I showed her the raw batter and then she took off to the kitchen. She came back with 2 boxes so we could pack our leftovers and said she had more fingers cooking although I hadn't asked nor wanted them at this point. She also made the excuse about bad baking powder doing that, giving me no confidence that this new unwanted batch would be better. When paying the card terminal makes you choose a tip percentage (10-25%). I'm glad I didn't leave cash on the table. Other points to note, the ambience was meh, and the booth was sticky. The boyfriend took a bite out of one of the new fingers... "I hope you still like raw batter". Here's to praying we don't get food...
Read moreI was so disappointed in this place. After a long hard day at work I spotted her to order dinner for my family and placed a very large order spent a ton of money! The quality was poor and when I got home I discovered that they never put in two orders of a high priced main dish I ordered! I tried and tried to get in touch with the store got nothing but a busy signal for hours! So I decided to stop on my way home from brunswick the next day and explain what happened. she was rude and non apoplectic about all of it. 40 dollars worth of food I never received! Never and I MEAN NEVER WILL I EVER GO TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. I'LL STICK WITH CHINESE FOOD FROM LUCKY FORTUNE IN DAMRISCOTTA. THE PRICE IS A BIT HIGH BUT THE QUALITY NEVER EVER DISAPPOINTS. IT'S QUALITY FOOD, GOOD SERVICE AND FROM WISSCASSET TO WAY PAST WALDOBORO MAINE THE BEST CHINESE FOOD YOU'LL FIND! SORRY NOT SORRY TASTE OF THE ORIENT BUT THE TASTE YOU LEFT ME WITH WAS...
Read moreTaste of Orient is a pretty drab place to eat. Before my food even came I was able to take in the restaurant's dim lighting, uninteresting decor, and consistent procession of country music (for you 99Wolf fans). Spending most of meal, I debated whether or not I would recommend the place to my friends, or my family, or people who like Maine's vibrant asian cuisine culture. Conclusively, and determined from not only this atmosphere, but the various foods, almost all made with excessive batter, and somewhat over cooked, I would only recommend Taste of Orient a group of people I don't really like, as the sole redeeming quality is one the restaurant shares with most low quality food: large...
