We were lucky enough to see this restaurant on our way into HiltonHead Island and had to make a reservation. We were a party of 5…3 being teenagers, and it was the perfect atmosphere for all of us. I can quite literally say that every morsel of food that was brought to us was just spectacular. My wife is from Italy, and gives Mulberry the seal of approval when it comes to the authenticity of the food. The menu is diverse and has a range of elegant Italian classics and some new spins on this cuisine as well. My wife said this Mussels in garlic sauce was a standout, all the kids loved the caprese salad, I had the butternut squash ravioli which was perfection. For the vegetarians, there are many options on the menu, rest assured and I struggled to make a choice 🤩 Other notes, we were too full to actually eat dessert but got them to go…chocolate cake, triple chocolate mousse and cannolis were all divine and devoured later that night. All in all, a great place for family or romantic dining. The bar is small but cosy…the drink menu is very good. I recommend the Gangster Martini 🍸 …I like a little sweet and the pineapple in this one was killer. Ciao! ~Law and Lisa

We had such a wonderful experience at the Mulberry Street Restaurant! The food was all exquisite! We had the red snapper francaise and the rigatoni bolognese for dinner. The snapper was tender and perfectly cooked. The potatoes were beautifully seasoned and went great with the buttery sauce. The vegetables were also perfectly tender. You could taste the depth of flavor developed in the bolognese and the rigatoni was slightly al dente: perfect for our taste! For dessert we tried the pistachio and cookies and cream cheesecakes which were both delicious! I was worried the cheesecakes might feel too heavy but my pistachio cheesecake was surprisingly light and had pieces of pistachios in the crust which made it even more addicting! To top it all off we had an amazing server Josh who knew the menu well and made great recommendations to us! He went above and beyond to ask Chef Paul to speak with us as we were planning an event and hoped to learn more about hosting it at Mulberry Street Restaurant. Josh made us feel welcomed and we enjoyed our brief conversations all throughout the night! We definitely recommend coming here!

Great atmosphere, awesome food and super friendly service. Mulberry Street Restaurant feels like it belongs in Litte Italy or a scene from Goodfellas, just old-school Italian-American goodness…there’s even a pay phone in the foyer! We ate at the bar and our server, Josh was excellent; knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and personable. We shared a chopped salad to start, which was different from any other chopped salad I’ve ever had but still delicious. My husband had the pasta with bolognese and a side of hot sausage…the portions were huge and delicious, very obviously home made. I had the burger and fries, which came out hot and juicy, with piping hot fries cooked to perfection. We finished the meal with the pistachio cheesecake (yummmm!!!) and an espresso, will definitely be back to try some other house specialties.

Straight away. I am so grateful that Mulberry Street was open on Thanksgiving!

I erroneously thought another venue that we previously planned to go to was open but oops, they were not.

ENVIRONMENT:

About the restaurant. It is definitely an "intimate" atmosphere" since you are in close proximity to the other tables ( and screaming kids). However. It's fine. It's a holiday, so it's a bit of a different vibe to it during a holiday.

The atmosphere is very cozy. It feels warm and comfortable. It feels like enjoying a holiday meal at a larger version of grandma's dining room only with more modern and classier decor.

APPETIZERS/ENTREES:

My partner had the buffet and she loved it. It was quite impressive. She's thin, and polished off three plates. Nice.

I know, it's Thanksgiving. However, I ordered the Lasagna Bolognese. Our server challenged me to finish it. He won. It was a huge portion. And it was delicious.

The only issue was with the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were huge, but they were very tough. Hard to chew.

DESSERTS:

Fan-freaken-tastic. My partner had a variety of choices from a dessert buffet. All fresh, creamy, fluffy, outstanding. I loved the pumpkin pie.

SERVICE:

I believe it was the owner I spoke to. He was very gracious, professional, and kind. Great personality. A great guy and I am so thankful to him for making arrangements for seating us without a reservation.

Our waiter was very nice with a warm personality. Unfortunately, there were several issues with service. They are those annoying, lingering issues that you just let go at the time so you can go on with your meal, but unfortunately cause you to ruminate later.

Normally, at a restaurant of this caliber, the server is a little more proactive and does not require prompting on most basics such as bringing out warm bread, plates, and water to the table. We asked twice for bread, but it never arrived. I guess he forgot. It really wasn't that hectic. When I was a server when I was way younger, I know what hectic is. He also didn't check in on us to follow up on the meal. My partner wanted a drink. She is very sophisticated and didn't feel like running or having to get up to track him down. I am going to assume he is very new or inexperienced. Quite honestly, the table was bare because he didn't have any plates to remove because he rarely checked in on us. I even had to ask him for a coffee and dessert menu.

OVERALL ASSESSMENT:

Despite the service hiccups, Mulberry Street is a wonderful restaurant. Excellent and diverse menu with many entree/dessert/appetizers/beverage/aperitif choices, top notch food and ingredients. The whole restaurant was well designed. Clearly the kitchen professionals were carefully curated as it shows in their final product. Very quaint and cozy atmosphere. Warm setting. The owner is a thoughtful and smart person.

I most definitely be coming back here. I was searching for a higher caliber restaurant with a more comfortable atmosphere and overall setting.

Very happy I found you! ☺️

May see...

Go with my wife, we've decided to try out this Italian restaurant I've found online - Mulberry Street Restaurant. Right at the entrance we were pleasantly surprised there is also a pizzeria right at the entrance - the smells were astonishing ! somebody was with us in couple seconds, asking us if we would like to sit at a booth or table. We've decided to go with the booth. It was quite crowded and a little bit loud because of some party in the middle of the room, but not in a bad way - it made as feel cozy and comfortable. Waiter was really polite and funny. He explained what are today's specials and after we've heard his recommendations, we've placed the order. Menus looked like straight from Venice - beautiful art on both sided and rustic look. Huge variety of meal choices and wines ! We did wait for food quite a while - like 30 minutes, but like I said, the place was really crowded that day so I believe it's understandable. While we were waiting, waiter brought us some fresh bread and butter and a salads we've ordered. I'm not a fan of breads, but these were so fresh, I couldn't stop myself ! When the waiter brought us our order, I was surprised with the size of the plates. I remember the prices from the menu, and I've expected to get much less food - another pleasant surprise ! Plus everything was really fresh and still hot. I promise You, You won't leave that place hungry. Again, waiter was very thoughtful during the meal - he was asking couple times if everything is to our liking - but not too many times, he was not bothering us at all. The room we were in, was quite spacious and with all the noises around we've spend really great time there. That was EXACTLY what we needed. I was keep glancing on the beautiful bar on the south wall, but I knew I couldn't drink as I was driving. Just worth mentioning that there is one and it's got everything You could possibly think of. After we were done eating, waiter asked us if we would like a dessert but we were too stuffed to possibly fit anything else. Along with my friend, we can't wait to come back...

8/24/25 We dined at Mulberry Street again tonight. As usual, the food was excellent, and our server, Alex, was wonderful. That's why Mulberry Street is one of our go-to places to dine.

2/6/25: Updated: This review is being edited due to the outstanding customer service at Mulberry Street Restaurant. We had an issue during our last visit which prompted the initial review, but after Chef Paul's call to me and our lengthy discussion about my family's last visit, I can only say that what happened was an honest to goodness fluke due to poor timing and extenuating circumstances. Chef Paul's dedication to his craft, his restaurant, his employees, and his customers is unparalleled. He takes pride in everything associated with Mulberry Street. Thank you, Chef Paul, for the call and the explanation. My heart goes out to your server. 2/2/25: We have lived in the area for over 20 years and have visited Mulberry Street many, many times over the years. The food is usually excellent, however, last night we had an issue. We decided to order their pizza as an app for the table and then have dinner. I had no idea they don't serve pizza on the weekends. No strike against them, I didn't know. Our server took quite some time to get to our table initially, but she did eventually make it to us. The time between visits to see if we needed anything was unusually long but still, not awful...it was a Saturday night after all. The distaste came when my husband received his burger far beyond the temp he requested. Our waitress' response was 'they did their best...we're not a burger place.' What?? If burgers can't be made to a specific temp, why ask the preferred temp at all? No can I get you another one. No I'll see what we can do. No I'll go get my manager. Nothing but 'they did their best...we're not a burger place.' That left a bad impression. Servers should know...
