This place just cant compare to Thai Basil in Stillwater. This place is just as bad as Duc's Restaurant. I encourage you to make the extra drive to try real food at Thai Basil, once you do you wont come back here again. Thanh Truc is only 3 min drive from my home. Thai Basil is a 20 minutes down to Stillwater, and 20 minutes back. After giving Thanh truc many, many tries, i No longer go there. That is how different the food quality is. I am not trying to be mean, I don't want to hurt the owners feelings, in fact I want them to read this review and make changes. I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE TO STILLWATER. Your location is unbelievably convenient, please, PLEASE improve your food, I WANT to come back. Go eat at Thai basil, pick up the food, and bring it back to your restaurant, have your cooks make "your" green curry and compare it to Thai Basils green curry, and see for yourself. You are WORLDS apart. Please, I Implore you to improve your foods, restructure your ingredients and chef if you need to. If all your customers had an opportunity to try Thai Basil in Stillwater, you would be out of business. I only supported you because you were close and convenient, even now as I write this review hungry, I cant bring myself to eat another one of your disappointing meals again. Every time, I tell myself it will be different this time, ill try something different, maybe it was a bad batch, but no longer. Failure after failure after failure, you have broken the trust. That's how bad it is. Read this and CHANGE, be better, I want you to thrive, I want to brag to my friends and family that I live next to the greatest Thai food restaurant in all of the twin cities! Please, makes changes. I will personally pick up food from Thai Basil and bring it to your store so we can compare their take out to your fresh food in your kitchen side by side. I'm sick and tired of driving to Stillwater, but the food at Thai Basil is like a 8/10 when you are a 2/10. I usually wouldn't take the time to write such a long review, but seriously, I have ordered from your place at least 10 times, you would think with at least 10 tries you could have wowed me, or even made me think "this is good"...
Read moreThis is not authentic, the cook and the server were both from India as they both visited our table. There was nothing authentic with the flavor of our dishes that we ordered other than the visual appearance.
I don't usually leave a review unless I feel very passionate about my experience. I love southeast Asian food, we try to find a new spot based on reviews and our location at the time. We were in Woodbury and decided to try Thanh Truc, the reviews seemed mixed, but we were willing to give it a shot.
Walking into the restaurant, there was no food aroma. We specifically came for the Pho and were surprised that we didn't smell any Pho aroma. There were 3 occupied tables and 1 server, we were sat right away. She was very pleasant, the atmosphere was nice and inviting.
The server was very busy running between tables and take out orders. No complaints with the service.
Food that we ordered and our thoughts:
Spring Rolls- No complaints, the peanut sauce was good. We had to request Siracha as they do not have any condiments on the table. Due to only 1 server working, it took us longer to get the Siracha than it did our Spring Rolls.
Pho-Tái Nam Bò Viên -Eye of Round Steak, Flank, and Meat Balls. It was served in a small bowl, the smallest bowl that I've ever seen Pho being served in. It was filled to the brim which made it very difficult to add your ingredients. Which, once again we had to request fish sauce since it was not on the table. Most places bring out the fish sauce, sugar, etc. when they serve Pho. They do not have tripe or tendon on the Pho menu which was also disappointing. This was the worst Pho that my Cambodian boyfriend and myself have ever had. The price of $14.50 is very reasonable for Pho, not this one.
Once again, no aroma. The broth was very bland, no spices. The meat proportion was very small.
We also ordered 2 cold Thai teas which we also had no complaints.
Overall, it was $50 for 2 of us to eat with 1 appetizer, 2 drinks, 2 bowls of Pho.
Conclusion, we wont be going back and I hope that this review helps...
Read moreFood was fantastic. Between all the people at the table we got the spring rolls, egg rolls, cream cheese wontons, pad Thai, pho tai, and the Thanh truck spicy noodle.
People have complained the egg rolls are burned. They are not burned. There is no off flavors or burned taste to them. They ARE dark and have black bits on them. But they are not burned. This is a meaty egg roll not a cabbage egg roll. Very good. I will definitely get this again.
The spring rolls are also excellent. They come with 3 small shrimp in them instead of one large one, so you get a shrimp in every bite. Also they have a very generous slab of bbq pork in them. The sauce is smoky and delicious. Would buy again.
The cream cheese wontons, I don’t like cream cheese wontons, were excellent. The filling is whipped and light almost like airy mashed potatoes. It contains garlic and what look like chives and aside from being very chewy, are very good. Everyone at the table enjoyed them.
The pho, my wife said is on par with the best pho she has ever had here in the twin cities, plus it’s closer to our house than our normal place. So bonus. I didn’t try her pho because once you start adding sauces to it you can’t tell what it used to taste like but if she says it’s great it’s great.
The spicy noodle was fantastic. Thin slices of nice chicken over thick noodles. Nice tomatoes and bell peppers in a spicy sauce. Not dripping with sauce, but enough to not be dry. It’s a very good noodle dish.
Pad Thai was exceptional. It tastes great without having too much or too little peanut flavor. I only had one mouthful but it was excellent. Not bland which a lot of restaurants are guilty of in making a pad Thai. Served with the cilantro and peanuts and lime on the side so you can make it just how...
