When we ate lunch here a few weeks ago for the first time, the food and service was very good. Our hamburgers and fries were some of the best we have ever had.
Yesterday, the service was still good but the food was not. My wife's hamburger was dry and bland. The side salad she substituted for fries was full of rusty-edged iceberg lettuce, was very small and was certainly not worth the $1.00 upcharge. My Reuben was a joke, especially after seeing reviews that glorified the $16.00 sandwich. There was a single layer, maybe a layer and a half, of flavorable corned beef. However, it was sliced with the grain instead of against the grain, making it tough to chew and messy to eat. And it would have been an improvement if the 1,000 island dressing was spread out within the sandwich instead of being served on the side in two tiny, plastic containers. The skinny French fries, which were excellent a few weeks ago, were barely warm and were grossly limpy.
Finally. as other reviews have pointed out, the restaurant is dirty. Very dirty in fact. There is an appreciable lack of pride of ownership. For these reasons we won't be back and we can't...
Read moreI recently visited Russ’s Place, hoping to enjoy a casual meal, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. The restaurant specializes in hamburgers, but the food was mediocre at best—certainly not worth the disappointing atmosphere.
What was most troubling, however, was the unwelcoming environment. We felt discriminated against during our visit, as our table was completely ignored while others received service promptly. This was especially distressing as we were with a Native friend, and it felt like their presence was the reason for the neglect.
To make matters worse, after deciding to leave due to the lack of service, we noticed offensive stickers displayed prominently, including one that read, “Save a Republican, Kill a Liberal.” This made the experience even more uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
Russ’s Place was not just disappointing in terms of food and service but also left us feeling unwelcome due to the overtly divisive and discriminatory tone of the establishment. I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a positive and inclusive...
Read moreCame with high expectations which is maybe why we only give it three stars today. Justifications: -Pros: The beef patty quality is outstanding, char-grilled to perfection; the atmosphere is fun, especially when you get to the restroom, lots of laughs over there :) -Cons: I took the shrooms and swiss burger, attracted by the statement "lots of shrooms and lot of swiss" but there were not many shrooms and even less swiss cheese on mine today. Lacked depth and qty of sauce too. The lettuce was black on the edges and the fries were over salty and over seasoned. My wife's burger -the hot pink- was better filled and tastier.
Was good to try it out though Overall a bit overpriced for what you get (18.75$ the burger, which includes skinny fries or crisp). The service was okay, workers and people are kind.
There was an advertisement for a Russian tiramisu, but 12$ was too much for me for a dessert. Not sure about the size though, maybe it's a big cake^^. Adding some pics might help...
