The Sautéed Lake Perch was prepared perfectly and is Outstanding. We came to see my long-time Joe Elvis Turrito who put on an excellent Elvis Tribute Show with no breaks for 3 Hours. The delicious Meal complemented well the electric atmosphere in the Room for this Show. The 60+ Guests attending the Show in the front Dining area were impressed and comforted by the ambience of their surroundings. The Room has beautiful Stained Glass in the overhead light. Joe "Elvis" Sang many upbeat unique Songs from various Elvis Eras and had several excited Fans dancing in the aisle at various times throughout the Show. Whether you are Dining Indoors in the colder Months or Outdoors on the exquisite Deck and Bocce Ball area you can't go wrong eating anything on the Menu while enjoying Live Music at this Place. The wait staff was understandably very busy this night but remained very attentive to the Dining Attendees needs. The Staff seemed overwhelmed at times trying to navigate the small spaces between the Tables to bring Food Orders to the hungry Guests. Mama Vesuvios Family Member Owners were very conscientious to the dining patrons needs. Dale always helps the Wait Staff clear the tables quickly while her Husband Gino often mingles with the appreciative Guests in attendance. Overall, the Italian Menu including the memorable Chicken Marsala, Salmon and Spaghetti Dish choices here are always meticulously prepared, served Hot and are extremely satisfying and delicious. In the 13+ years that myself, my Daughter Lenore, her Mother my Ex-Fiance Marianne, my past 2 Girlfriends, my present Girlfriend and many of our other invited Guests over the years have never had an unpleasant Dining Experience here. I would highly recommend Dining and attending an Entertainment Event at this cozy...
Read moreAfter three decades of marriage, my husband and I thought it would be fun to do a “nostalgia weekend” for our anniversary. When we were dating, I lived in Crestwood and we remembered going to Mama Vesuvio once, because at that dinner was the first time we ever talked about marriage maybe being in the cards for us.
First let me say that we are both in our mid-50s now, and were easily the youngest in the restaurant tonight by 25-30 years. It was hot and stuffy and reminded me a lot of the retirement community in which my 90 year old Inlaws reside. I had chicken tetrazzini that was completely tasteless and bland. Husband had pasta with vodka sauce (which they charge $3 more for…what?!) and I am 100% convinced it was jar sauce. His pasta was undercooked (yes, I know what al dente is…this was al gummie) and swimming in sauce. Portions were huge but unfortunately we won’t be enjoying the leftovers. Service was ok; we were never offered drink refills or dessert. Really wanted to try the tiramisu to see if there was any redemption for this place but our leftover containers and check were handed to us immediately after setting our forks down. It was 3 hours before closing and they were not crowded so not sure what the rush was. We ended up just going down the street to Plush Horse for dessert.
All in all, this is hilariously overpriced bland food and I would not recommend. There are too many other absolutely incredible Italian restaurants in the Palos area to ever bother...
Read moreA party of flavor, hidden gem! You know that feeling when you put on an old coat and find money in the pocket? That's me now. I'm from out of town, happened to drive by yesterday and stopped tonight for dinner. I absolutely love it when you find these authentic family run restaurants with outstanding homemade food. After discussing with my waitress I decided on the veal parmesan (so I could sample the homemade marinara) with fettuccine alfredo as my side (so I could sample the homemade pasta and alfredo). I was expecting it to be good and yet the first bite still blew me away. YUM! You know it's good when you are literally sad when you get full and there is food left on the plate. You'll see by the attached picture that the portion was very generous as well. The tiramisu was absolutely delicious; since I now felt like I won the food lottery I couldn't turn it down. If everyone had an Italian restaurant like this near home all the chain restaurants would go out of business. I will...
