First and foremost this restaurant FAILS in my book because they violate the civil rights of handicapped people by not providing an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant parking stall and path of travel from the parking lot through the front entry door. This is SHAMEFUL of the business owner & manager as well as the property owner if they are different people. This business treats handicapped people like they are second class citizens. We watched a van pull up in front of the restaurant and the driver had to temporarily park outside the front door because the so called handicapped parking stall is so small and blocked with plants that the people in the van could not open the van's side door and use the ramp/lift to get a wheelchair bound person out of the van. The other shame is the food in this restaurant. The most basic of diner food is a hamburger, yet this place didn't even get that right. My hamburger was grilled to a tough well done, it was dry and tasteless. The dry & tasteless flavor is indicative of meat that has been frozen & thawed. The bacon on my burger was also dry and tough which leads me to believe that instead of being freshly cooked, the bacon was left over from morning breakfast, put into a refrigerator, and then microwaved to warm it up before putting it onto my burger. The fries were crispy as I prefer but were just barely warm when my meal was served. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich which she said was waaaaay overcooked, dry & tough. Our waitress however was absolutely fantastic, so I feel sorry for her that she has to work for a property/business owner who obviously doesn't care about the civil rights & safety of their physically handicapped customers, and is also very callous or ignorant about the low quality of the food that is being served. As you can probably guess, I certainly DO NOT recommend the Rivertowne...
Read moreWe were headed to another restaurant when my Wife suggested that we try Rivertowne. We had never been there before so we entered with open minds and empty stomachs. The atmosphere was nice, friendly and welcoming. The service was great, all of the staff seemed busy but not too busy to chat a bit. Our food came out quickly and in proper order. Meaning the soup came out first, we had time to eat it then we did not wait long at all for the main course. Well done. My Wife had French Onion Soup and it was outstanding. She had the meatloaf which she enjoyed so much I snuck a piece. I had Chicken Fiesta Quesadillas and a side dish that I forget at the moment. All of it was very, VERY good. I also ordered a large Italian Sub and fried breaded cauliflower to go. I forgot to tell the waitress No oil or Mayo. It had both, my fault. But what happened was, I'm putting it on my subs now, I've gone over to the Dark Side... But it was Delicious and a Happy mistake. The only small complaint was with the seafood chowder or bisque, I don't remember the wording but it was Bad. It was so thick when I turned a spoonful upside down, it didn't fall off. It tasted like starch or another type of thickener was used. There wasn't much crab to be found or even crab flavor. Not the end of the world, some may prefer it that way, not me.
Anyway, we will be back, as I wrote, I loved the Italian Sub and just about everything we ordered that day and I want to stop back to try Buffalo Wings, Stromboli, Pizza and a few other appetizers. I'm very happy my Wife changed our plans and went here, I'd recommend Rivertowne to everyone and as I mentioned, I...
Read moreGot Italian sub that was very disappointing. Contents were very fresh, meat and provolone cheese sliced way to thick. Roll fell apart trying to pick it up. Top it off, mayonnaise was put on roll instead of oil & vinegar. Ended up taking contents out of the roll, cut them up and ate like chief salad. Last time I had the fried chicken and that was cooked way too long and was very dry. Wife ordered bacon, lettuce & tomato sandwich which she said was ok. Five star service saved the day... In a nutshell, I think we will try one of the other restaurants next time we are in the area. The bright spot to this whole thing is the waitress gave me a box for the other half of the sub to take home. My wife deconstructed the sub ingredients and turned it into a wonderful chef salad by adding lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and celery. Julienne sliced the meat and cheese and topped with Italian dressing . Made roll into crouton slices baked with...
