I came in here recently and the place was okay, but nothing special. The menu is very limited and their hours are kind of the same. I asked the waitress what their hours were and she said that they were open every day til 2am expect for Sunday. But I had driven by multiple times before and it's always been closed. Maybe it was all covid related before; I don't know. But I do hope that their hours are what she said they were, moving forward.
One thing that I liked about this place was the 2 dollar Labatt on Wednesday. However, I ordered a captain and a rootbeer and it tasted like there was no alcohol at all in it.
As for the food, like I said, the menu was very limited. They did not have one of the specials and were also out of the cheese perogi. So I got the chili, which did scratch the itch, so to speak. It came with onions and cheese. It was pretty hot too (temperature), which was nice.
People seem to love their fish here and I used to get it here back in the day. Maybe one of these Fridays I can come in and give it another try.
As for the service, it was just okay. The waitress was nice but not that fast. She also asked me what I wanted to watch on the TV and I said I didn't care, but suggested the Piston's game. She turned the Pistons game on but then turned it off and put on college basketball because that's what she said that's what she wanted to watch lol. I didn't take it the wrong way and didn't find it rude, but why would you ask someone what they wanted to watch and then turn on something that you wanted to watch?
The one guy who worked there, perhaps the owner, did give me 2 candy bars. That was much appreciated.
There are pretty cool vibes in here also. Its kind of an older bar and there is a pool table to shoot at as well.
Overall, despite their hours and limited menu, the place ain't too bad. Yes, it does have flaws, but I'll be back at some point; most likely to either eat their fish or come back in for...
Read more-The Good: very comfortable atmosphere. Friendly staff. -The Bad: If you go there for dinner, plan on ordering pizza or grabbing a couple BigMacs on your way home. They are stingy with the food. My wife and I ordered the Perch & Shrimp combo dinners. She had an ice water and I had a Coke. $53.00 plus 10 tip put that dinner night over $60, which would be ok if we didn’t feel the need to eat again afterwards! With the combo, you get 3 shrimp and 3 VERY SMALL pieces of fish, and a VERY SMALL side of crinkle fries. Honestly, the shrimp and fish was very tasty but if you’re hell-bent on eating here, reach for your wallet and spend (more) money for extra fish! It’s interesting, they put your coleslaw bowl on the same dinner plate. When you remove the bowl you’ll immediately see, there’s very little food on the already small sized plate. Also, the service was VERY laggy. We waited around for an extended period of time after ordering. The waitress (MaryAnn) very pleasant but very laggy!!! Another BIG annoying issue: We were there with another couple (4 of us at a big round table near the front door). Maryann brings us 2 menus and tells us to share because they are large and cumbersome. They ABSOLUTELY were not. The menus were normal or standard size menus (there’s not a lot of food items to choose from to begin with). It was extremely annoying to have to share menus! She decide for us, to share menus- totally ridiculous. -Lastly, the bathrooms were filthy. -We are here about 5 years ago and wasn’t impressed then. We will not be returning. I can’t comment on the alcoholic drinks, maybe it’s a good place to visit...
Read moreSecond time here for perch, first time was amazing this time was a completely different experience and we will not be back!! We bragged about it after the first time and brought 4 friends/family with us today. Fish tasted old and was cold. I believe it was pre-cooked and left sitting. Asked for the fries extra crispy and was told there was no guarantee, they were done however the cook did them, really, they were also cold!! Our drinks had very little to no liquor in them. They were so bad when we showed it the clear glass (bourbon drink) to the waitress she reordered them. My husband and I shared the double order of perch and they actually charged us a $2 plate charge, wasn't told about that and it didn't happen the first time (we had the same thing). We each ordered a cup on soup, one chicken noodle and one chicken dumpling. One was $3.71 and the other $5.78, really??? We were not only very disappointed, we were embarrassed at having brought our family for what we thought would be a great experience but instead was a HUGE let down!...
