I’m a local senior advisor in the Yantis and Sulphur Springs area. I invited area seniors to join me for breakfast at 9:30 to discuss Medicare. Based on Facebook responses, I expected 3–4 guests. The restaurant was not busy, and I sat down with three seniors who came specifically for the breakfast.
To my surprise, the owner refused to serve us, citing that she was understaffed—yet at the same time, she charged me for meals ordered by other customers who were not part of my table or gathering. It was an incredibly strange and uncomfortable experience. She hovered over me, attempting to intimidate me for simply sitting at a table with a few guests—all of whom were willing, paying customers.
Despite the confusion and frustration, I paid the $50+ bill (for random people I never even met) out of respect for the staff, who shouldn’t be penalized for poor management decisions.
This was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. I won’t be returning, and I would strongly caution others to think twice before visiting.

It’s common to use a picture of a location so people know where to go—especially in a small town.
When you told me that I should’ve given you a heads up, I apologized for any inconvenience and let you know I’m a local guy and would like to be able to meet people here again in the future. You rolled your eyes and walked away.
I’m a licensed agent with the state of Texas (NPN: 19354126). I’ve been doing this for over 5 years in DFW (zero complaints) and recently moved back home to raise my family here.
I’m the opposite of a scammer. The scams come from overseas call centers and websites that never meet folks face-to-face. I’m here in person, answering questions, helping people save money, and making sure no one gets taken advantage of.
I just did this exact same thing at the Emory cafe a couple weeks ago. I asked for a table in the back, let them know a few people would be joining me for breakfast to talk about Medicare at our table. GREAT EXPERIENCE. Took great care of us and treated me like a paying customer...I will definitely be back.
Anyways...here's a review I got after the meeting.
“The young man putting on the meeting was very nice and knowledgeable. I will not visit Yantis Cafe again. Owner would not wait on people attending meeting. There were only 3 of us.”

Read moreWell I must say we really liked this place, but I’m not sure we will be back after yesterday’s lunch. My Dad ordered a cinnamon biscuit, which was covered in salt instead of sugar. They laughed about it and fixed him another, but that really isn’t funny with his age and health. Then the cook apparently couldn’t get mine nor my husband’s order right. He had a burger with all the veggies, yet when it was brought to him nothing was on it. They fixed his. I had a simple ham and cheese sandwich with swiss, lettuce, & mayo. The cheese was wrong so they fixed it and then when they brought it out again, still no lettuce and had about 8 tater tots. I was done at that point and waiting. Everyone at the table was halfway through by the time I got my plate. 3 burgers & 1 sandwich (drinks were comped) was NOT worth $50.
**Reply to Owner’s comment: We laughed at him because we couldn’t believe he had taken another bite to see if it was just a bad spot on the biscuit. You came over and asked us if any of us was veterans, THEN comped our drinks after we said no. As an owner, you never actually apologized for what happened and told my parents how you were going to fix it. You just came over and laughed & told us the story of how your manager messed up on something she prepped on the 18th. Then went in on how you ate hot sauce that had sugar at a restaurant you visited. I didn’t hurt your...
Read moreYantis Cafe' is the very definition of a hole in the wall destination to dine. It's neither fancy shmanshy in decorum nor does it need to be. In fact, my first dining experience was one I needed talked into and remain quite embarrassed in admitting my initial judgement zooming through town with a complete different destination. The menu consists of basic classics here in Texas. Y'all know some Texas style dishes won't ever convert/persuade diners from other regions to like or even persuade them in dining choices. The salsa served is notably fresh. You are given an array of choices that vary on the salsa richtor scale from 1y/o to over 92y/o! Burgers vary vastly on only the best way. Every variation Ive ordered or tasted from the plate of another guest have been top notch. (That's my personal family only, I promise. Uh-huh, I see where snagging off a plate from someone I've never met could add a big twist, but NOT for me!) Unlike some I have noticed it takes me longer to order each time I go. If 'blame' is involved it's solely due to the many choices and b/c I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered!. Topping that off, as if they need anything, every staff member came by our table to 'check' on us,...
