Bert's Tavern — Restaurant in Yates Center

I may be biased since I am a local. But definitely try it out for yourself and feel free to comment back here with your thoughts. It is not at all what you would expect from the outward appearance. Just apears to be a somewhat run down small town whole in the wall bar but looks are sometimes very deceiving! This little "BAR" is so much more it has a recently remodeled interior and a unique atmosphere very friendly management and staff and definitely some of the best food around. A full assortment of drinks behind the bar ready wet your whistle. Pool table and video golf arcade machine to challenge your friends to a game or ten. They also have an outside beer garden and seating area with a dance floor and Dj, and or sometimes live bands to shake your groove thing to. Like I said if you're in the area or passing through on highway 75 or 54 stop in and give it a try for yourself and let me know if I'm wrong or if they hit the spot for you too! Drove over from Iola for their wonderful looking mountain oysters. Ended up having the worst, burnt and tough mountain oysters we've ever had. They looked nothing like the pictures they had posted on Facebook as advertisement. The dinner all the way around was just so underwhelming, especially for the price we ended up paying. No problem if the food had been up to par....it was not even close. A guy reached out saying when they had them again, they'd redo the dinner.... Never saw the mountain oysters advertised again and he never made any mention of when it might happen. Definitely wasn't going to drive over again to chance another wasted meal before having the prior one fixed. It's been months and months. I think it was fall of 24' it's Summer of 25'. Quaint little place! We have family that lives in the area so we’ve driven through many times but never stopped.

Finally, we got curious enough and dropped in for dinner. I asked for a mocktail and told our waitress to just make one she thought would be good. Not only was it delicious, it also looked nice too. Everything was reasonably priced and tasty. The building was old and the place could have been in better shape but it was clean and tidy. I recommend stopping by if you are passing through.
