Swimming Mermaid Coffee House & Wine Bar at Point South KOA — Restaurant in Yemassee

UPDATE: We have been visiting the KOA to get coffee for a couple years now. Such a hidden gem! The water is triple filtered and the staff are true baristas. My husband ordered a macchiato and he was asked how he wanted that since so many people are used to getting a macchiato from their favorite place. We also ordered a breakfast pizza, which is oh so good! We will definitely continue to visit when in the area.

We are staying with family in the area and wanted coffee without having to drive 20+ miles. We were pleasantly surprised to find a coffee bar at the local KOA and blown away by the coffee and service! The staff is so friendly, the options are plentiful, and the breakfast pizza is delicious. For years, our family has looked forward to our visits to Swimming Mermaid Coffee House during our road trips. The cute shop, clean bathrooms, and coffee made it an ideal spot to stretch our legs and take a break from the car. Sadly, that tradition ended today when we were told our children couldn't use the playground unless we had a KOA reservation due to "insurance purposes," with the most affordable option costing $80. We are deeply disappointed by this change, especially after years of supporting the store and coffee shop. If I hadn't been overcharged by $2 I wouldn't have even written a review. I ordered a large cappuccino and after it was made they said we ordered it with an extra shot and that's why it was over $6 instead of the $4.25 listed. All I ordered was a large cappuccino no extra anything. Tried saying that but the lady insisted even though we ordered it with her! We were saying what a great campground it seemed to be and how we would stay here sometime soon.
