This was the most disgusting food I've ever eaten in my entire life. Shame on the cooks that put this absolute burnt, dry, hard meat in my carryout box and chicken wings with tons of giant feathers on them still. It was absolutely nasty, i didn't want to eat any of it. Shame on the people who put it in the boxes and served it. It should have went straight in a garbage can. The fact this place has thousands of positive reviews when other restaurants only have 50-100 reviews tells you they were incentivized somehow. Probably the worst restaurant food I've had in my life. Shame on them for charging me for absolute garbage. They couldn't even bother to put any sauce on the hard leather shoe meat that i couldn't even chew. Absolutely disgusting.

Updated response for owner: I don't use Facebook and I have only one other review on here. I don't leave many reviews, but my experience at your restaurant was so absolutely terrible and I felt deceived by the reviews here that I felt the need. If you don't want to believe that, then thats your problem. If you were a good owner, you would be asking questions to find out what went wrong and who was in the kitchen that day. Instead you're trying to claim i wasn't there. I was there with my friend who got the heavily feathered chicken wings. We got them as carryout and when we got home discovered how terrible the food was. The dry hard meat in my box was like shoe leather and never should have been served to anyone. Maybe you give the garbage to guests who get carryout because they won't discover it till they get home. You can deny i was in your restaurant, but you would have absolutely no clue if I was or wasn't and rather than ask questions to get to the bottom of it, you've just denied its true. Your response here just confirms my poor experience, you are a really bad business. And the food was terrible. Worst BBQ...

We have thoroughly enjoyed meals here in the past, but Friday night just wasn't a great experience.

There were four of us having dinner. We were seated quickly and our waitress came over to get our drink orders. It took several minutes to get them, but it was busy...

My wife ordered the smoked chicken wings and I had the smoked brisket. Our friends had ribs and a big salad. When the smoked chicken wings were delivered, they were completely charred on both sides, not 'just' smoked. My brisket was delivered at the same time, but it was obvious that it had been put on the plate much earlier. It was cold, or, at least, no warmer than the room was.

I asked our waitress to have the manager come over and I explained that I just wanted her to know that the kitchen was sending out cold food. She seemed very concerned and asked if I wanted my food re-done, but I said no thank you. Still, the manager reached down and grabbed my plate at least twice, saying she was going to take it back to the kitchen. I finally had to insist that I didn't want anything done with the food and that I was just letting her know what was going on in the restaurant.

I also asked her about my wife's "smoked" chicken wings. She said it is normal for the wings to have "some blackening" on them. She didn't seem concerned that my wife had to peel the skin off the wings to avoid eating what tasted like charcoal.

The waitress was duly attentive and was very helpful in getting a few "tasters" for my wife to choose a beer for dinner.

The manager comped us $15 for the problem with the brisket. That was fair and I appreciated it.

We'll try again another time, but the experience knocked Lager Heads out of the "always good" standing it...

I live so close to Lagerheads I don't see 1 traffic light on my trip. Conversely I have traveled all over the United States ordering up smoky meats whenever I get the chance. Kentucky. The Carolinas. Georgia. Florida. Tennessee. Texas. Kansas. Missouri. I have had some great signature BBQ in those places. But I have yet to try better than Lagerheads. I have been a customer for many years, even way back when they had buckets of potatoes lining the hallway destined to become their amazing fresh cut fries (still disappointed that those are gone). This past weekend I sat down again and ordered the sampler. Its on the app menu but its a meal when you add a couple of sides. 2 wings, smoked and grilled. 3 rib bones. and generous amounts of brisket and pork. You don't even need to taste it to recognize these guys are next level pitmasters. The ribs had a char that was like a delicate pastry which gave way to a smoky melty flesh that pulls clean from the bone with no effort. Their wings take these lowly throw away chicken bits and transform them into a main event. The brisket and pork are both perfectly tender with exactly the right amount of hickory smoke flavor. No more, no less. All washed down with my fave: a 22 ounce Bedhead Red. Lagerheads is what I'm always hoping to find in the heart of BBQ country. a little smokehouse in the middle of nowhere that just blows you away. Thankfully for me, I never have to drive far. It's awesome...and don't get me started about the...

This smoky house and BBQ joint has the most amazing food. Holy cow! It hits the senses; taste, sight, smell, texture. So much smokey flavor in every bite. The brisket was perfectly succulent with that light crispy bark on the outside. The baked beans are amazing; beautifully slow cooked with bits of smoked beef to add an unexpected depth of flavor. The collard greens, had that cooked for hours richness and was not overwhelmed by some type of salty meat. It did have a tad too much vinegar for my palate, but certainly didn't slow me down. The portion size was massive. After what I ate at the restaurant, I have enough take away for 3 more servings. But, I heard carrot cake calling my name; therefore, space had to be reserved in the ole gut. So worth it. The gigantic slice appeased three of us with enough take home for two more servings. (at least) Well done Lager Heads, well done.๐Ÿ‘ I applaud you. (The interior lighting wasn't the best for picture quality.)

Below this is my original review from 11 years ago... Today, my experience wasn't so rosey. My brisket was very good, as well as the cornbread and coleslaw. The fries were somehow overdone and soggy (it was early, so maybe the oil was cold..?). My five dollar side of mac and cheese might have been a whole 4oz of food. Finally, the wings... charred, to the point of being almost inedible. Peeling off the burnt skin and scraping the other charred bits off only improved them marginally. The meat was bitter and any smoke flavor was lost in a sea of charcoal chicken skin. I have a smoker at home. When I smoke chicken (wings or otherwise) they don't come out black. 11 Years Ago: My sister got me a gift card for Christmas... I can't thank her enough. My friends and I will now regularly travel the 30 minutes to eat here. Everything I've had tastes great. Excellent beers, too.
