Let me start by saying I rarely post reviews and very rarely do I have such a negative experience as I did today. My family and I went out golfing for Father’s Day weekend. My husband and I and our two sons were there before our scheduled tee time and we were ready to go. Wee teed off on our first hole and noticed the pacer was directly behind us as we teed off. Then followed us to the next hole. This is understandable as it’s a busy weekend and we were sure he’s just doing his job, making sure everything is going smoothly. Well, he continued to follow as we went on even sitting right next to us on the fairway. He then approaches us at the 8th hole and asked us how many holes we were playing today. When we told him 18 holes, his eyes couldn’t have rolled further back into his head if he tried. He told us we were going “way too slow” and my husband had a few choice words for him. When we asked him where were we supposed to go since the other group in front of us literally just got off the green, he had no response. Shale Creek, this seems to be a running theme with this gentleman, as well as the fact that he seems to watch groups with women and children a bit more closely. I understand us amateur golfers can slow things down, but we had no way to play any faster given the group in front of us. We didn’t pay to play here and be humiliated by someone who clearly has no skills in dealing with customers. You really need to reevaluate who works there, and if you don’t, no worries, he will just do it again. We...
Read moreShale Creek is awesome. I hardly post reviews, and will not uptalk a facility for no reason. Starting with the proshop staff, either the head pro or the assistant, was extremely accommodating. I work in the the golf industry so I “get it”. I came with a buddy for a 12pm tee time, in December, and I could tell we were likely the last tee time. I asked if we could take a cart for the front 9 and walk the back so we wouldn’t unnecessarily keep staff waiting, he insisted that we took a cart for both 9s because “he would be there anyway”, which translates to me that the customers are far more important than the staff getting out an hour early. I appreciate that.
The course layout itself is outstanding. No two holes are the same, and 0 holes are boring. It has a bit of that member advantage, with some holes you would like to see twice, but with the GPS on the cart assisting you, you’re at fault for poor course management. Course conditions have been great both times I’ve played. They take care of this place.
Overall, this was an easy 5 star review. Much of it having to do with the proshop staff and the course layout. Good job...
Read morePlayed here for the first time in early October. Paid $62 for 18 w/ cart. Range was included which was a nice touch. Played with a 3 of my buddies. We’re all 15-20 handicappers. Condition of course was alittle disappointing. I realize it was the end of the season, but fairways and greens had patch areas that you would not expect for the price we paid. Pace of play we slow on the front. We were behind some hackers that slowed us to a 3 hour and 15 min front 9. Luckily they didn’t play the back and we finished the back in 2 hours and 15 min. Also I group behind us that was blasting music we could hear from 100+ yards away. Not the courses’ fault I know. It had just rained so Greens were soft but blazing fast. All in all, the course presented a tough challenge with plenty of hazards, elevated greens, and tricky holes locations. But was definitely most disappointed with the patchy areas. If you wanna pay $60+ for a nice course, go to...
