Went here for lunch with a group of friends on Saturday. Let's start with the good - its a beautiful, rustic restaurant. The table we sat at was absolutely beautiful and our server was absolutely excellent. Now, the bad - I ordered the pierogi skillet which was cheddar pierogies, kielbasa, and shrimp with a mustard sauce and I chose stuffed pepper soup instead of salad. My cup of soup was not good. It tasted like watered down tomato paste and did not have much flavor. My main dish was atrocious! Totally swimming in a mustard sauce that you could not taste any other ingredients. Even two of my friends tasted it (who have been here before and raved about the food) said it was too strong and overpowering. Sad, because this place is so close to my house and I wish I would've had a better experience. Maybe...
Read moreMy wife and I went here for an early dinner and everything was excellent!! I had the Y-Town rigatoni it had a slight spice to it that really made it enjoyable. The portion size was perfect, and it came with a generously sized salad. My wife had the Fiocchi, and it was sooo good! The pear gives it a slight sweetness, but it all works very well together. Hers, too, came with a salad. We shared a side of the cheesey grits (this is a new obsession with us), and they did not disappoint! Overall, the atmosphere is very nice and the staff is very attentive! The hostess and the other servers all help each other with removing the plates as we and others around us finished. Prebussing is definitely a thing with us. We hate the plates just sitting around! We definitely will be back! Congratulations, Shawn on your...
Read moreLast night was my first visit to the The Blind Bear. I had the Fiocchi and my husband had the pork chop. Both of us highly enjoyed our food. The Fiocchi dish was pillowy pasta dumplings filled with pear and Gorgonzola cheese, lying in a garlic broth. It was the right balance of savory and sweet, with some spice coming from the blackened chicken on top of the dish. Soooo good! đ The atmosphere felt like you were in someoneâs den, a warm and cozy feel. What I also liked was the special nod to the West side area. The cocktail list had names of drinks, paying homage to local neighborhoods and streets. These folks know how to open a restaurant. We will...
