I make it a point to try out different Gems away from regular food chain experiences. Gabriel’s Cheesesteak was a place that’s been in my top favorites since 2016. When I was in the area I would stop in grab a couple jars of their cherry peppers, and order extra sandwiches to take back upstate and share with the family. This time I brought the family down to Ypsilanti and was excited to take them to the place I spoke so highly of the past 7 years. I ordered their regular Hoagie with cheese and peppers. And the wife and kid ordered regular hoagies, no onions. Couple drinks and chips. $38 and $7 tip. . . When the sandwiches came out they were smaller and skinnier than I remembered. Just a little further and I see this tiny little joint offering cheesesteak. I figured what the hey. I know how I am. I used to get phenomenal cheesesteak from the big city, but why not?

Is it the best I've had, have I gone back to my youth. Nah. However, is this one of the best cheesesteaks you will get this close to the metro? Oh yes. The price is fair, the meat is great, the staff is pleasant and it's clean and comfortable enough.
If you're on 12, passing through Ypsilanti and you're hungry? Pass the other stops by and hit the old local favorite. You...

I am one of those fans, so I instantly approved of the aesthetics. Unfortunately I am not a beef nor pork eater, so I did not try the most famous thing on the menu, but fortunately for me they just added one more thing to the menu. It was a grilled chicken salad. I purchased one for me, and I definitely enjoyed the grilled chicken. There could have been a little bit more TLC with the way the cheese was distributed in the salad, and I've never had saltine crackers for croutons, but overall salad was good. My friend enjoyed, so i will mention...
