This wasn't my first time here at Buck's Bar, I'd been here with my family multiple times. The dirt road ridden with gravel encroaching on a dive bar in rural Nebraska is a perfect entrance to the place you want to have a great time. A hint of tobacco tackles the nose as my father and I encounter some people smoking outside, a common feature to this place. When we get inside, we decide to sit at a booth right next to the bar. The booth isn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but it's better than nothing. We ordered our drinks and my Dr. Pepper that I ordered was just okay throughout. It wasn't really flat, per se, I'd say it was just a bit tasteless and not reminiscent of an ice cold Dr. Pepper. For appetizer we ordered some onion rings. The onion rings were really nice, they didn't all come apart when bit into and pulled back, so that was a very nice addition to the freshness and flavor that came with it. After that, I ordered my 4 piece chicken dinner with fries and my father had ordered a 1/4 lb. burger with all the fixings and tots. It took a while to come out, though the end result for the chicken was (hopefully) going to be worth it. The food arrives and the first thing I notice is the chicken looks very different from the last time I had been here. My memory may just be a bit hazy since it's been a while since I've been here, but I remember it being a lot lighter and not having as much visible seasoning on the outside. It still tasted a bit like how I remember it, nice and crispy with a good amount of flavor to it. The chicken was everything you want a chicken to be: tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked through. It didn't take me too long to chow down on this illustrious feast of fried chicken and fries, and it took even shorter for my dad to enjoy his burger as well. Overall it was a really great experience, the waitresses were really kind and attentive with refills and top-offs. I'd recommend...
Read moreAfter a long awaited time we finally had the time to drive from Council Bluffs IA to experience the Bucks restaurant hear only fantastic stories of the food and staff I will say I will never come back . I was not aware of the live music on Sundays guess I could have dove further into the website to see that they were having live performances. That being said when we entered the building the live performers were taking a break and they were playing music from a streaming service and it was TOO loud when we were talking to the server about this she became extremely pissed off and stormed away we were taken back by her presence and her attitude at us to were we almost left but we waiting for our other group to join us there were driving from Louisville when they arrived the waitress address them and asked for drinks and took our order we still couldn’t handle the load music we could not hear each other talk and started shouting at each other to understand what we were saying. The waitress returned and said they are starting the live music again and it will be loader with to much attitude my mother got up and spoke to another server and asked if we could eat outside and she said yes and then our waitress showed up and shared again with to much attitude said we don’t serve people outside and our items would be put into to go containers because that is there policy at this point we were thru with this constant disrespect I came in to the bar flagged our waitress down to pay for our drinks she snatched my 20 from my hand and then came back and handed the money saying they were not worried about and we left . So in all do respect our experience was complete garbage to be treated like that and I’m very disappointed that I could not try the food when we do t even feel welcomed by the staff. We will never come back
What a poor response...
Read moreFirst stop at this little bar and grill right off the highway & we were blown away by how AMAZING their food is. I won't lie, I was just expecting typical bar food - fried and nothing to write home about. This place was quite the opposite and really impressed us! I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, grilled & with fries. Fries were on point with lots of flavor - I don't normally finish my fries anywhere I go but actually did here bc they were so good! The sandwich was packed with flavor and the perfect level of spice. The chicken breast was a big one that overhung the bun & it was so so juicy and easy to eat! Pure perfection. Husband wanted a big ol prime rib, but at 8ish when we arrived they were sold out, bummer! But he got the sirloin and was not disappointed at all! This just gives us another reason to come here again! The servers are all extremely kind and attentive. If someone is walking by they will check on folks at a table regardless of whose table it should be. I think that was really awesome! They were also kind and all thanked us for coming when we left which is refreshing and will encourage me to come back for this kindness! There is live music here pretty often as well, this is actually what brought us out on this trip, and seems like they have a nice set up and great sound! Really recommend this little gem to anyone passing through - I promise it's...
