We had an amazing experience at Doi Mot Nguoi Cafe & Homestay. We booked a room for 2D1N and the staff was extremely accommodating. On our first day, we were unable to check in early, hence we left our baggage at the reception and went out to explore. At around 7pm we were still out, hence the staff texted asking what time we planned to check in. We ended up reaching back at 7:30pm, past their closing time at 6pm but the receptionist (boy with spectacles) helped us with our baggage to our room and got us settled in. Over the course of the 2 days, all staff were friendly and helped us with directions around Da Lat and gave options as to where we could wait, since our sleeper bus had arrived at 5:30am on day 1 and reception only opened at 8am. On our second day, we had booked a sunrise tour which started at 3:55am and hence we were unable to find a grab to take us to the meeting point. The receptionist woke up at ungodly hours and booked a cab for us. We had many requests that required their assistance past their opening hours, however they went above and beyond to make our trip as convenient as smooth as possible.
We also spent a good amount of time exploring the grounds of the cafe itself and trying their menu. I believe their menu is affordable, with coffee averaging at 60k VND at cafe price. Not only is the area well kept, there are also many photo spots and pets that are well trained and friendly that roam around freely. We spent a morning and evening at the cafe, which was not crowded and hence pleasant to roam around and take pictures. Overall a good experience with this homestay and we would definitely...
Read moreI stayed at Đợi Một Người in early November 2022. It was every bit as beautiful, serene, and atmospheric as I had been told to expect. My room overlooks the pond with the glass house and has sweeping views of the valley and mountains beyond. Although there were quite a few customers frequenting the cafe during the day, because the place was so spread out, it never felt noisy or crowded. I ordered a veggie meal from the homestay for dinner on my 2nd night and ate it at a table outside under the starfruit tree and in the moonlight. What else could have I asked for? Staff were really friendly, and the only reason why service only got 4 out of 5 stars from me is because I felt it was slightly slow and haphazard at times, but maybe slow is the whole point of this place...As a homestay guest, I got 20% off my drinks, which came in handy as the drinks aren't cheap! I only had fruit teas (mango and strawberry), so cannot comment on the quality of coffee, but the teas were delicious, and really with those views and in that peaceful, picturesque setting, I could have been drinking plain water and still enjoyed it much more than usual. The cafe has a small shop selling locally made food stuffs (crisps, dried fruits, etc.), which was quite convenient for gift shopping. It is also quite conveniently located for a hike to Trúc Lâm Monastery (it took me about 40 minutes each way - some steep hills, but really worth it). They gave me a tote bag and some vouchers to a music cafe franchise when I left, quite a nice...
Read moreDoi Mot Nguoi Homestay (the name literally translates to "Waiting for a person") is in the middle of a steep hill, surrounded by lushy green gardens. The cafe serves various popular Vietnamese drinks (coffees, teas, and milk teas) with snacks such as biscotti, cookies, and dried fruits. We ordered the hot Vietnamese milk coffee and the macchiato lotus tea. The drinks are alright, not excellent or anything but they weren't too terrible (they were just a bit too sweet for us). The prices are in medium high range (from 50,000VND to 85,000VND). The staff is nice and friendly. The cool thing about this place is their surrounding scenery: they have a garden filled with persimmon trees, blackberries shrubs, sunflowers, other greens, and a big, pretty fish pond with a floating house in the middle of it. So basically it's a pretty nice place to relax, chill out with friends or family, but not really for picky gourmet foodies.
P/S: on the day we went there, the electricity was cut off so inside was a bit dark. Luckily it was in the middle of winter so it wasn't hot, and the seats outside have enough natural light for customers to...
