Came here from Google Maps and tried their recommendation: fried pork with lemongrass and chilli. It was very average and definitely overpriced (foreign tourist prices). I also ordered rice and could not eat it at all, so bland and dry. No service as such and no English too. Unfortunately, along with high prices I spotted bad hygiene. Not impressed at all, not horrible experience but the food was just not great by Vietnamese standards and the hygiene was not up to a minimum standard for a good restaurant (dear owner, if you are reading this, please start improving from providing soap in the bathroom). It is simply on the path of countless excited tourists cycling around the area from Ban Lac, hence the popularity.

Dear owner, thank you for your response! Please do not take my review as a criticism, rather a constructive feedback and an advice to fellow travellers.

Having read multiple praising reviews, I visited with high expectations and these unfortunately were not quite met. Why so many people liked the food and I did not? I do not know. There are so many great eateries all across Vietnam that I enjoyed. It could quite possibly be an unlucky day for me or the unfortunate recommendation and a different menu item could be better. Hence I stated what I tried and can only testify to that.

As for not speaking English: correct, I do not speak Vietnamese. Let me make a comparison. I visited very remote parts of Vietnam where the local people speak neither English nor Vietnamese: it did not make them less interesting, and let me assure you, the process of ordering food was most entertaining! However, when ordering food in a very touristy location, it is generally assumed that I can make an order in some, even most basic form of English, which is not my first language as well. Thanks to English we are able to have this conversation, even though we originally speak different languages, and I take this as a sign of appreciation when I am addressed in a language that I can understand.

I am happy to hear your assurances regarding the hygiene, as this became even so more important since I visited!

As for the prices, I found them to be tourist prices, which in my opinion is fair for the area; just a fair indication for the fellow travellers who could be on a budget and looking to "eat as a local".

Thank you for taking time to respond to my less than glowing review in a friendly way! I greatly appreciate that.

Cám ơn bạn...

We had the worst experience ever. We were so excited at first to come here from all the great reviews, my fault didn’t see those great reviews from 2 to 3 years ago. We came there we were the only customers, the staff was super unfriendly, not welcoming at all, the way she served the food like softly threw it on our table. They have a thick menu that in the end whatever you ordered is out of stock. We ended up ordering what was available: morning glory, papaya salad, fried beef lemongrass chili and fried oily chicken. I almost lost my teeth trying to chew the beef my jaw still hurt the next morning. The only thing decent was morning glory and the canned beer. I feel bad for recommending this place to my boyfriend, it was his birthday and I thought we could eat some nice dinner. I don’t usually write reviews on google like this and that speaks a lot of me wanting to share my experience and don’t want anyone to go...

My boyfriend did choose this restaurant because they have some vegetarian dishes. Close to the tables they had two baby kitty's in a 40x40 cm metal cage without water or anything. They were screaming the whole time and I could watch them how they desperately tryed to escape the cage. The food did look ok but I could not eat it, it was too heartbreaking! If you visit this restaurant in the future and there are no kitty's in a cage they did move them somewhere where sensitive tourists can't see them or they did eat them (yes they also eat cats). I don't judge people who eat meat but I think it's unacceptable to let any animals suffer like that! So if you are vegetarian/vegan and/or care about animals you shouldn't go there just because of the menu. There are other restaurants with no animals in cages nearby who serve the same food. Sorry for...

This place is a life saver! 🙌 With so few restaurants with explicit vegetarian & vegan menus, it’s hard to find “safe” food in Mai Chau. The prices are pretty alright for the portion, though we found the food, especially the spring rolls & fried noodles, rather greasy 😬 Only one member of staff speaks English. I’d suggest you keep Google Translate on hand if you need to communicate. I’d highly recommend the “Piper Lolot Leaf Rolls With Tofu And Mushrooms” & their fresh spring rolls, though you will have to roll it yourself 😅 If you’re a vegan, I recommend checking that every dish is egg-free. The tofu luckily is, but we didn’t check for the fresh spring roll so they included it anyways, albeit luckily separated from the rest of the ingredients. There’s actually some pretty decent food here 😋

My girlfriend and I almost chose an expensive resort restaurant near Lac Village but decided to try 3 Sisters instead—and we couldn’t be happier with that decision. Every dish we had was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. One of the three sisters who run the place chatted with us for about 30 minutes. She was subtly hilarious and very caring, which added to the warm, homey experience. Some reviewers have mentioned that the owners seem rude, but I believe this stems from a cultural misunderstanding. In Vietnam, especially outside the major cities where customer service is a relatively new concept, interactions can come across as more reserved. However, once you engage with them, you’ll find that the owners are warm and welcoming, just in their own way.

We had dinner here 2 times. Service was all over the place. They confused the orders of the different tables repeatedly. They had a huge menu wich we understood probably the third of since it was not all translated. They did not really speak english so we simply could not try some of the various ethnic dishes that they had wich was a shame! But what we ate was excellent without exception! We tried 7 different dishes all super fresh and very well done! I saw them cutting the beef in the kitchen. The food arrived quick and was very hot, they had just prepared it. Prices are definitely elevated. For us worth it!
