Let me preface this by saying, Gia Vy 2 isn't your typical tourist trap. It's a local institution, a bit rough around the edges, but with a heart (and stomach!) full of deliciousness.
I stumbled upon this place while wandering the streets of Quy Nhon, drawn in by the rhythmic sizzle coming from the open kitchen. Inside, it's basic, with plastic chairs and tables, but the atmosphere buzzed with locals enjoying their lunch.
Now, the star of the show here is the Bánh Xèo, a Binh Dinh specialty. Unlike the folded pancakes you might find elsewhere, Gia Vy's version is like a mini, open-faced pizza. The rice flour batter is perfectly crispy, and the filling is generous - think fresh, juicy shrimp, slivers of pork, and crunchy bean sprouts. Each bite is a symphony of textures and flavors, and the accompanying dipping sauce adds a delightful tang.
Be warned, watching the lady in the front methodically cook up to 12 pancakes at once is both mesmerizing and slightly intimidating. But her skill is undeniable, and the wait is absolutely worth it.
Here's the thing, Gia Vy 2 might not be the fanciest place, and the service might be a tad on the no-frills side. But if you're looking for an authentic, delicious, and affordable Vietnamese experience, this is the spot. Just come with an open mind and an empty stomach, and you'll leave with a happy heart and a satisfied belly.

The flavors were incredibly fresh, and you could taste the love in every bite. Everything was made with care—from the crispy bánh xèo to the fresh herbs and dipping sauce. It was delicious, authentic, and cooked to perfection.
But what made it really unforgettable was the people. The gentleman at the restaurant took his time to kindly show us the proper way to eat bánh xèo, and he did it with so much pride in his culture—it felt like we were guests in his home, not just customers. The young ladies working there were also incredibly sweet, respectful, and attentive, always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed, with the kindest smiles.
And on top of all that? The price was unbelievably affordable. Great food, warm people, and a beautiful cultural moment all in one.

Read moreTook awhile to find this place as it is away from the city centre and has a lot less traffic.
Warning: staff does not speak english but knows how to let you choose your dish. Basically the staff will take out a small sample of beef and prawn for you to pick which to choose. After which, you will be given 2 pancakes per person.
How to eat was shown by the staff: by wrapping the vegetables and pancake together, then dipping the chili.
We opted to take away as there was a lot leftover after eating. At point of review it costed 25,000 dong per pancake so it worked out to be 100,000 for 2 people, which was definitely worth it.
It’s a great experience to try...
