Wow, what an experience! The 45 minute drive from central Lusaka was well worth what was waiting for us at Botanica. The design of the restaurant is stylish and contemporary, the serving team are attentive and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic - 10 delicious courses, each beautifully prepared and presented, made from local ingredients and showcasing the flavours of Zambia. Chef Sungani personally introduced the dishes for each course and we particularly enjoyed seeing some of the raw ingredients that are used for each dish. The meal was spread over about 3 hours, never too rushed, but never left waiting for the next treat. The paired wines were great and accompanied each dish well. Perhaps most importantly, we had both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian taster menus and they were equally fantastic. Finally, this was excellent value for money for a true fine dining experience. The tasting menu was such amazing and mouthwatering journey, with so many new tastes, flavours and textures. Chef Sungani and his team of well trained waiting staff took time to explain every dish that was brought out for us. The modern take on cultural dishes using ingredients sourced not more than 100 km was an unforgettable experience. The creativity and thought put into every course was incredible and the patience that the chef and the maître d' have was amazing.
