Shangri-La Restaurant — Restaurant in Harare

When it comes to affordable and nice food, this is the place to be. Effort is placed in each dish that they make and the good thing is that you do not wait to long for your order. I love their beef, vegetables or chicken noodles the most. They also make really good sweet and sour chicken, ribs, chicken and sea food too. This is a go to place when you want to eat as a big group but on a tight budget. I also recently discovered that they also accommodate weddings and apparently you do not need to pay for the venue hire but for food only per plate. In addition to this, whilst the food was really great and the waiters were quite hospitable and polite , the ladies at the payment counter/ reception couldn’t care less about the clients, in fact couldn’t care less would actually be better, they are not polite, impatient and act as if customers are wasting their time. Which, I believe a lot of businesses like these are common for as they receive a lot of customers, however, can result in loss of customers so i suggest that they ensure that their employees are all trained and the service is consistent across the board. In conclusion, i do recommend this restaurant especially if you are sitting in and not taking away anything because that way you will not have to go to the payment counter, the waiters can bring your bill and you will have...

Went there on my birthday. Granted it was Valentine's Day and unsurprisingly busy - I have received more welcoming hospitality from the Zimbabwean Passport office. And that says alot!

We were seated by 8 p.m., our orders FOR DRINKS were reluctantly taken an hour later. My sister had to threaten to bring the drinks to the table herself before someone just came and dropped the glasses without an apology or any acknowledgement of the bad service we had received. Not even the usual announcement of what drink was what.

The only interaction we had was with one server who came with prawn crackers and just dropped them on the table and said "these are free".

At least that's another restaurant to remove from the pool if Chinese restaurants in Harare for me and my family.

Staff can make or break your reputation and in the case of Shangri-la. They did not do themselves or their management any good on Valentine's...

We went for dinner and firstly, we didn't know where to go becausr there were no visible signs. When we got there, our table had no salt/toothpicks/sauces and we got no knives. We asked the waiter if the food we ordered was spicy and he said no. However, when the food came, it was quite spicy. They even mixed up our orders in the process. As we were eating, we found hair in our plate, but at least they gave us a discount for that. The atmosphere was not bad except for the fact that there were some kids running around making noise.
