We visited Harare from London, and were recommended the Spice Lounge by our family. The food here is - we all agreed - the best we have ever had, in any Indian restaurant or takeaway.
It was bloody sensational. The chefs have been here for a long time, and we can see why.
Eunicar was our waitress and she was welcoming, helpful and as brilliant as the food we had. The Lamb Rogan Josh, Laal Mass Lamb (I think), and both options of Dhaal were so flavoursome. Full of stocky, rich, hot flavour. The paratha was incredible and the Naan was as chuffed as it gets - crisp, flakey, buttery and hot.
The plates were also very hot which is such a huge indicator of a brilliant Indian Restaurant.
All dishes we ordered from curries, to starters and breads were big portions - no messing around. Beers were well priced and arrived very promptly thanks to Eunicar; only $2 for a local bottle of beer that is bloody great value!
Rating this place out of 5 does it an injustice. My mother said that up to this point in her life it is the best curry she has ever had. And my grandmother rated this place in the top 2 ratings she has ever given to a restaurant, and that is a testament to the quality of this place. Serious flavours.
The chicken breast and lamb were incredibly tender and flavoursome. The Paneer was also a favourite among our table.
The Spice Lounge provides the superlative Indian Cuisine experience in the whole of Harare, and we certainly look forward to our return to this...
Read moreThis rarely happens when I review a restaurant with 5-star ratings for nearly everything. There is no room for improvement in this one. Hands down the best vegetarian food experience in Harare. The spices used were quite as you do in Northern India, and everything was so subtle, yet so magical. I ordered for takeaways and deliveries for my one month stay in Harare, and was never disappointed. Not even once! These people who make this happen deserve an applause. Thank you Spice Lounge for keeping a restaurant business as it needs to be like.
The prices were slightly on a higher side, but you can’t complain if you get value in that price. In USD 10-15, you get a meal with complimentary accompaniments, which makes up...
Read moreI stopped in after work for a takeaway. I had been following their social media pages for sometime and was hoping try some of their authentic Indian dishes. As a pre weekend stop it was quite empty but I was treated with hospitality and enjoyed sitting in their space whilst waiting for their food. Wanting to try a traditional Indian staple, I ordered their butter chicken and prawn pokora. Let me say, the spice was subtle but complemented the proteins perfectly. Hoping to return to actually have a meal there and enjoy the beautiful gardens including a...
