Beautiful beach...beautiful sunset...Not very clean... Mostly not crowded... Ample parking space... Almost 8 Kilometers away from Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram, lies the tranquil haven of Kappil. Kappil is a beautiful beach-backwater destination located near Varkala, the famous tourist spot. A drive through Kappil is as scenic as it can get; the road is flanked by the azure blue of the Arabian sea on one side while the serene waters of Edava Lake is on the other. The long coconut palm groves swaying in the winds, the golden sandy beaches and the rocks shielding the shores from the waves make it a perfect beach destination. The backwater ride is another interesting option for recreation. Enjoy a ride on the houseboat and see the distant sun setting in the horizon or the simple village lives of the fishing community. Row / pedal boats are also available. Visiting Kappil beach gives double the pleasure of beach and backwaters. Kappil is a confluence of the sea, river and the backwater which make it more heavenly. The beach is now protected by a seawall. Take a boat ride through the serene backwaters and see glimpses of rural life and the lifestyle of fishermen. The Priyadarshini Boat Club run by the DTPC offers boating facilities here.

The beach's unspoiled allure stands in refreshing contrast to more bustling destinations, creating a haven for those in pursuit of solitude. While amenities are minimal, this simplicity enhances the charm, allowing visitors to forge a deeper connection with nature. The convergence of the Arabian Sea and the Edava-Nadayara backwaters adds a touch of enchantment, with boating facilities available in the lake. The nearby Kappil Lake bridge offers breathtaking views, elevating the overall experience. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply seeking a tranquil escape, Kappil Beach unfolds as a hidden gem waiting to be explored. At Kappil Beach, you can discover an array of sea shells and observe crabs along the shoreline. Additionally, the inviting waters allow visitors to enjoy a refreshing bath in the sea Visiting Kappil Beach promises a dual delight—immersing in the beauty of both the beach and the serene backwaters, offering a unique and pleasurable experience.

The natural beauty and soothing atmosphere make this place a favorite destination for those who like holidaying in a place that is free from the crowd. Also known as Kappil. Lake, Edava-Nadayara Lake is a huge freshwater lake situated just adjacent to the beach. This combination of an ocean and a lake is very hard to find. On one side you will see the beautiful blue water of the ocean and on the other, the greenish tinge looks beautiful and contrasting. The road in between these water sources is best for bike rides and long walks. This scenic landscape looks even more charming in the evening. Kappil beach is also known as one of the best-kept secrets of Kerala. The Golden sands of Sun covered beach and then the dazzling water of the Arabian sea gives you a fun vibe. There are thick casuarina trees which makes this spot more alluring. The long road which separates the beach and the lake runs for around one kilometer and riding on the road is one of the most blissful adventures I have taken to date.
