There was a time I regulared this market for clothes and accesories. It changes into a veg and fruits market on certain days.....( cant comment on that) But on thursday and sunday it is a cloth market. And u get every range of cloth items you want. From shirts,t shirts,dresses,shorts...towels.etc etc etc. For those tourists looking to buy souvenier items....it is wayyyy cheaper to buy keychains, mugs ,tshirts here than a boutique for double the price. Get a big shoppers bag when you come here as you dont have to carry 10 plastic bags.
It can get crowed and be ready for slow moving human traffic with the occasional shove and pull. Put on a good bargaining face. One of my fav buys are the mens shirts they sell here for 250 rps.( somewhere in the middle of the market)
Good quality ,good designs....i love the island floral shirts they sell here. Then the occasional lucky day of getting skirts or a dress u like.
Word of caution ( some clothes, esp the cheap cotton kind need to be taken care of when washing , for color fading and never wash them in hot water as they will shrink )!!!!!
And ofcourse.....since u buy them cheap..dont expect them to last a very long time !!!( except those mens shirt I talked about - those are real good stuff). So voila.... ENJOY...

It is amazing that the entire place clears out and a whole new crew of people and products shows up the next day. On Thursday you will find all sorts of clothing. On Saturday you will find all sorts of produce (fruits and vegetables). There are also other shops lining the streets so even if the market isn't open, you can find many shops open. There is also a food area where you can get freshly cooked Mauritian foods. There is parking on the streets (tricky sometimes). There is a great parking lot on the south side of the market (30 rupees per hour). I highly recommend coming to this market if you want to get an...
