Overall this was the greatest experience I have had in Albania this many years. Right when you walk in, there was this girl that was always seen with a smile on her face, greeting you in the nicest way possible. She informed us about the prices, gave us the right pamphlets and also suggested that we start our tour from the second floor and finish with the dark room. The ambiance was great, and modern motives were so nicely embedded with the photographies that have resisted time. Every photography or item placed in the museum had its own explanations, written both in Albanian and English. I think if we should consider raising the standards of Albanian Culture and the way we present it, we should start by taking example from Marubi Exposè, National Photography Museum.

A reasonably interesting museum, though it would certainly help if you know your photography. A good few personal stories and some of the oldest photographs in Albania. As more of a historian than a photographer I loved learning more about the countries past and looking at the traditional homes, outfits etc. The two female staff here weren’t very pleasant, they popped in from the garden to sell the tickets almost resentfully, then go back to the garden to smoke, sit on their phones and chat.

What an interesting place. I really enjoyed it, but it was also very moving and touching, and it made you think. Not only did the photography and history make an impression, but all the photos of people who went on trial (most of whom were executed) during communism was really heartbreaking. I spent a long time looking at the trial photos, and they will stay with me for a long time. It's an unforgettable place to visit, and I highly recommend it.

Discretely nestled within a shopping area in Shkoder, this photography museum has much to offer for a low price of 700 lek. The temporary exhibit at the time of writing this review, 'Two Italians in Japan' was as interesting as it was unexpected. The permanent exhibit upstairs extensively details the origin of the museum's founder and photography in general, with many accompanying photographs. Definitely a hidden gem within Shkoder.

It is a nice photo gallery, but it needs more work. The photos are good, but they give a very poor context about the problem or the situation they want to relate. A better job can be done with the gallery, it can be more interesting. The normal ticket is priced at €7, however, for students it can be €2.

To me it was an amazing experience. The museum was very interesting and the building itself was worth visiting. The ticket price was more than reasonable. I would like to thank the receptionist who was very friendly and explained us a lot about the museum. Faleminderit per mikpritjen!
